The team investigate the savage death of a golfer and find an aerial anomaly. A Pteranodon appears and is suspected as the culprit. The creature is soon caught, but then Nick and Claudia find themselves besieged in a hotel with a swarm of flesh-eating pterosaurs outside. But help comes from an unlikely source.
- Kill It with Fire: With Claudia's help, Helen lures the pterosaurs into a kitchen with the gas left on, then throws a match.
- MacGyvering: Cutter puts together a flamethrower with a lighter and an oxygen cylinder.
- Non-Malicious Monster: Cutter clings to this belief when dealing with the Pteranodon, that the creatures must not be killed unless there's no other choice. He's eventually proven right.
- Oh, Crap!:
- The team when they find the anomaly...and it's in midair.
Cutter: How do you cordon off the sky?
- Connor when he finds out he inadvertently brought Rex along with him.
Connor: [after chasing Rex to try and catch him] I tell you what, when I catch you, you're gonna be the first creature to become extinct twice!
- Stephen when he spots Connor oblivious to the Pteranodon circling him.
Stephen: [about the Pteranodon] It's not looking for a roost. It's looking for lunch.
- Abby and Connor finding themselves in front of a tree whose branches are covered in carnivorous pterosaurs.
- Shout-Out: The whole episode is one big homage to The Birds.
- Squick: In-universe. When the Pteranodon defecates while unconscious, Stephen investigates its dung for traces of human remains. His way of going about this? He tastes it, earning him this reaction from Tom and the other soldiers.
- Villainous Rescue: Helen rescues Claudia from the Anurognathus.
