Kat is leading a ballet about King Midas for school, much to Adam and Jason's frustration and Bulk and Skull's laughter. They struggle to find props, though, so the detectives make a bet with Kat and Tanya: if they find everything on the list, they get double their usual rate, if they fail, Kat and Tanya get to name their prize.
Among the Machines, Louie Kaboom has taken command, imprisoning Machina and Sprocket. He devises the Midas Hound to turn everything on Earth into gold, planting the dog figurine at a garage sale Bulk and Skull are searching for props at. They find the Hound and discover its power, quickly making themselves trinkets and using gold to pay for food.
But then, the Hound goes rogue, turning their food into gold. They flee for the Youth Center, where Adam and Tanya decide to check it out. When Jason is turned into gold, they flee and decide to try the Zords, which also struggle against being turned into gold until they swap Zords and blast open the now giant figurine, which becomes a more conventional monster to defeat, made easier by Billy turning Jason back into flesh.
After, Bulk and Skull, having failed to find all the props, have to perform in the King Midas ballet.
