While out in the desert collecting specimens for a terrarium, Tommy and Kat become victims of Sprocket's new shrink ray and end up getting trapped with a huge spider. At the same time, Bulk and Skull investigate an old mine hoping to find the motherload.
Tropes
- Bait-and-Switch Comment: Upon hearing that Sprocket's device makes things shrink instead of growing like he was going for, King Mondo sounds angry...before praising his son's brilliance, seeing it as a perfect opportunity to decrease the size of the Rangers.
- Incredible Shrinking Man: Tommy and Kat.
- Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Zigzagged with Tarantabot, who, while wasn't involved in the plan to shrink the Rangers, is based on the spider that Sprocket nearly fed Tommy and Kat to.
- Red Herring: It’s heavily teased here that Skull might be the Gold Ranger using Obfuscating Stupidity to throw everyone off.
- Resized Vocals: The shrunken Tommy and Kat's voices become high-pitched and squeaky.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Upon being cornered by the other Rangers, Sprocket runs off saying "I think I hear my mommy calling me".
- Shrink Ray: Initially, Sprocket's device was meant to enlarge the Empire's monsters bigger than Orbus's method, only to get the reverse effect he was going for. King Mondo sees this as an opportunity to shrink the Rangers instead.
- The Stinger: During the end credits, Bulk and Skull are showing Detective Stone that they found the motherload, only for Stone to inform them that it's Fool's Gold.
