When Adam starting a boxing class, Sprocket becomes inspired to use a boxing monster called Punchabunch, which he uses to capture Adam, proclaiming him to be a trophy, with the only way to save him is if Red Battlezord can defeat Punchabunch. At the same time, Tommy finds himself going on a Vision Quest, leading to a secret that will affect his life.
Tropes:
- The Boxing Episode: From Adam and Sprocket's perspective and of course, the monster, Punchabunch, ties into the theme as well. This was a holdover from Ohranger which had far more western-style martial arts, including boxing i.e. the green ranger's main fighting style.
- Didn't Think This Through: When Bulk and Skull hear the word "free", they are quick to jump in. It's only after they sign up that they (especially Skull) find out that it was for boxing lessons.
- Like Father, Like Son: After Punchabunch is defeated and King Mondo asks him what he has to say for himself, Sprocket sheepishly says this. Mondo is not amused.
- Magical Native American: Played straight with Sam and David who possess the power to seemingly become one with the wind.
- Rotating Protagonist: The focus shifts between Tommy's vision quest and finding focus in his life and Adam's taking up boxing and being trapped by the Machine Empire.
- Scary Black Man: Subverted, he appears to be Bulk and Skull's training partner for free boxing lessons until Lt. Stone reveals that their exercise will be jumping rope with the black man joining in.
- Shout-Out: On Lt. Stone's sweater reads "Jerry 'The Rock' Stone".
- Wham Episode: The episode ends with Tommy discovering he has a brother.
