Ransik unfreezes a peaceful mutant named Notacon, who refuses to fight for him and escapes and befriends Trip, who must protect him from Frax ... and from Eric and his Silver Guardians.
- Any Last Words?: Eric when trying to destroy Notacon with his Quantum Defender.
- Badass Pacifist: Trip defends Notacon from Eric, crititczed the latter for wanting to destroy him just for being a mutant and even reveals his green hair and forehead gem to him.
- Benevolent Monsters: Notacon is this, as he refused to harm innocent people and only got arrested by stealing vegetables to avoid starving.
- Both Sides Have a Point: When Eric confronts the other four Rangers, he points that mutants are a threat for Silver Hills, but Katie replies that Notacon wasn't a violent mutant.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Notacon becomes this when Frax implants on him a device to force him to fight the Rangers.
- Electric Torture: Another effect of Frax's mind control device on Notacon is that it also electrocutates Notacon.
- Everyone Has Standards: The Rangers, whom despite their mission of protecting Silver Hills, are unwilling to destroy them, and instead capture them and hand them over to Time Force authorities. Thus they're shocked by Eric's statement that every mutant should be destroyed.
- Foreshadowing: When about to destroy Notacon, Frax comments that destroying a mutant would be a pleasure for him.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Notacon, after Trip is unable to remove Frax's mind control device from him without destroying him, decides to remove it himself to prevent Ransik from forcing him to hurt people. Fortunately, Trip stops him.
- Hunter of Monsters: Eric in this episode is determined to destroy Notacon, despite him being a peaceful mutant.
- Internal Reveal: Eric discovers that Trip is an alien. And Trip discovers that Eric only acts mean to cover his loneliness.
- Irony: Frax chooses to unfreeze Notacon, commenting he looks like an evil mutant.However, he soon found he was really wrong.
- It's Personal: The four Rangers become mad at Eric for almost blasting Trip for protecting Notacon.Wes: You almost hit Trip!.
- Join or Die: Frax and Nadira tried to force Notacon to fight for Ransik, and when he refuses to, Nadira has no problem ordering Frax to destroy him. Fortunately Trip saves him in time.
- Take a Third Option: When Frax tells Notacon he can choose to fight for Ransik either willingly or forced with his mind control device, Notacon instead escapes from the Prison Ship.
- Taking the Bullet: Played with, as Trip stood before Notacon to protect him from Eric's blast meant for the mutant, but fortunately Wes managed to deflect it with his Chrono Sabers.
- With Us or Against Us: Eric makes it clear to the other Rangers that he will attack them if they try to stop him from destroying Notacon, by hitting Wes in the back and almost blasting Trip with his Quantum Defender.
