  • Big Damn Heroes: Jen shoots Tentaclaw before he can lay a claw on the children.
  • Big "NO!": Wes after Nadira orders Tentaclaw to kill the children.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The children are saved and Wes forces his father to donate a hefty sum to charity, but his faith in his father is broken, and he leaves home.
  • Broken Pedestal: While Wes has been pushing back against Mr. Collins' board meetings and deals before, it's seeing his father's disregard for the children in danger (except where the press can benefit him) that gets him to move out.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Wes pushes back against Mr. Collins for his refusal to help the children, but it's what he says before leaving the mansion for good that really do this.
Wes: All your business and all your plans. I'm gonna make my own future now. [walks away]
  • Chekhov's Gag: After Nadira unfreezes a mutant, out walks one without a head. She and Ransik wonder if she somehow screwed up the procedure, but this is just set up Tentaclaw's head-detaching gimmick.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: How Mr. Collins views taking away the kids' baseball, after it hit his limo. Naturally, Wes disagrees and hands it back over the first chance he gets.
  • Detachment Combat: Tentaclaw possesses the ability to separate his head from the rest of his body and puts it to use in battle.
  • Friendship Moment: The other Rangers quickly welcome Wes into the watchtower.
  • Guile Hero: With the busload of children being held ransom for ten million dollars and his father refusing to pay it directly, Wes instead "borrows" a signed and endorsed check for that amount from a business deal, giving him the cash for the ransom. Later, he takes advantage of his father being surrounded by reporters to strong-arm him into donating his newly-recovered ten million to charity. Given that he's been groomed to take over BioLabs his whole life, he'd know a thing or two about money and public image.
  • I Am a Humanitarian: With all the kidnapped children loudly crying, Gluto asks if he can just eat one of them.
  • I Lied: Wes hands over the briefcase full of money, saying he fulfilled his part of the deal. The second Nadira confirms the money is there, she orders Tentaclaw to kill the children.
  • Kick the Dog: Mr. Collins took the baseball from the kids just for accidentally hitting his limo with it, just to teach them a "lesson". He expects Wes to throw the ball in the garbage. After Mr. Collins left, Wes gave the ball back to the kids.
  • Long Last Look: Wes does this before leaving the mansion for good. Amid the reporters is Philips, who gives Wes a nod of approval for his actions and decision to leave.
  • Noodle Incident: Tentaclaw got arrested for kidnapping the mayor of Millenium City.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Nadira forbids Gluto from eating any of the children before she gets her ransom.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Wes decides to leave his mansion home and stay at the watchtower with the other Rangers.
  • Slave to PR: How Wes is able to force his father into donating the $10 million to charity. With all those reporters and cameramen in his mansion, Mr. Collins has no choice but to force a smile over this.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Even though Nadira got her money, she tries to have the kids killed anyway. Before, while waiting for the ransom, Gluto wanted to eat the kids but Nadira told him not yet.
