A Nighlok captures the souls of several humans, including Emily’s. As it looks like they’ll be lost forever, Antonio presents a new hope.
Tropes featured in Team Spirit include:
- Brick Joke: While preparing for Emily’s birthday, Mia offers to bake a cake, to which Kevin states they already decided to buy one to keep it a surprise. Later on, at the party, Emily nervously asks if Mia made the cake.
- Deal with the Devil: Deker says that the Rangers could save Emily’s soul by making a deal to become part Nighlok so that they can go to the Sanzu River safely. Before Antonio brings up the plan with the Clawzord, Mike is willing to accept it.
- Determinator: Emily, despite losing her soul, wakes up long enough to urge the others to go on.
- Foreshadowing: Deker makes it clear that the above mentioned Deal with the Devil is what happened to him.
- Near-Villain Victory: If not for Antonio marking the Nighlok before he returned to the Netherworld, he would’ve succeeded with his plan.
