This episode contains examples of:

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: Lothor corrupts Cyber Cam to help him infiltrate Ninja Ops. After he encounters Cam and the Sensei, he and his nieces proceed to launch an attack on the headquarters, trapping the Sensei and capturing Cam.
  • Brick Joke: Cam, Hunter, and Blake are helped by 3 strangers who are similar in looks and personalities to Tori, Dustin, and Shane. They return next episode as new students at the ninja academy just like Shane, Dustin, and Tori were at the start of the season.
  • Call-Back: Lothor says he "borrowed" the Scroll of Destiny shortly before his encounter with Cam in the past. He also finally claims the Samurai Amulet, which he had tried to do back then.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Vexacus launches a suicide attack to destroy the Thunder Megazord.
    • After Lothor and his nieces infiltrate Ninja Ops, the former quickly takes down Cam and sends the Sensei flying.
  • Downer Ending: The Thunder Megazord is destroyed by Vexacus in a suicide attack, the Sensei is seemingly killed in the destruction of Ninja Ops, Cam is captured and Lothor uses the Samurai Amulet to complete the Scroll of Destiny for his Evil Plan.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Despite it being 80 degrees overall, Cam's amulet immediately freezes when he gets too close to where the Abyss of Evil is opening up.
  • Foreshadowing: As Lothor goes on about how the Scroll of Destiny has accurately predicted every major event so far and thus guaranteed his victory, Cam points out he's still missing a chunk of the scroll.
  • Good News, Bad News: Marah and Kapri report to Lothor that the Abyss of Evil is this close to overflowing and that the Rangers just so happen to be in the area.
  • Motive Rant: With the Scroll of Destiny in hand, Lothor details his Evil Plan for Marah, Kapri, and the audience.
Lothor: The scroll tells of my travels through time and space, recruiting the worst this galaxy has to offer and watching as they were destroyed one by one. Their energies are all preserved in a well-hidden place.
    Marah: The Abyss of Evil.
Lothor: Yes. Now, the time has come for them to be reborn, to emerge and take arms against the Power Rangers! I will lead them into battle and then this planet will at last become mine!
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • The Thunder Rangers when Vexacus is going to destroy the Thunder Megazord.
    • Cam and the Sensei when Lothor and his nieces infiltrate and destroy Ninja Ops.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Naturally, Sensei gives the Rangers permission to attend the games and doesn't begrudge how they forgot to ask him about it in the first place.
  • Similar Squad: Three strangers resembling Shane, Tori, and Dustin help out during a fight with the mooks.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Lothor reflects on how Vexacus has been a mere pawn in his Evil Plan all along.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Besides forgetting to ask Sensei if they could take time off to go to the games, the group also realizes they forgot to invite Cam to come along. He's a bit irritated about it.
  • Xanatos Gambit: The entire season is revealed to be this, as Lothor reveals that he was intentionally sending Monsters of the Week (and later his own generals) to their doom, so that their evil spirits would fill the nearby Abyss of Evil to overflowing, resurrecting his own forces along with the other ancient evils imprisoned there.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Lothor observes how Vexacus has certainly been useful in helping fill up the Abyss of Evil, but with the Rangers on the scene just before the overflow, he says the time has come for him to meet his demise.
