Tropes

  • Benevolent Boss: As irritated as he is with the disappearing acts, Toby sees his employees going through a rough time and asks them to just talk to him.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Phineas demonstrates some serious fighting chops against some mooks.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Hekatoid's toads fall from the skies, Udonna freezes them.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Gekkor over being taken out of the fight in favor of Matoombo.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Hekatoid is destroyed, Udonna is saved, and Leelee is welcomed into the group. On the other hand, the remaining Terrors defeat Leanbow and prepare to release the Master.
  • Bring It: Leanbow after Matoombo shatters his shield, but then Sculpin stabs him in the back.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Hekatoid does this to the Rangers for most of the episode.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Leanbow is keeping the Master's essence within himself. Killing Leanbow outright would put the Master at risk, so the Terrors have to wear him down instead.
  • Cassandra Truth: Toby asks to know why the Rangers are always rushing in and out of the store. They admit to being the Power Rangers, but he doesn't believe it—saying they've joked about that before. Them saying they can't morph right now is met with a dismissive "Convenient."
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Phineas. While he is normally a comic relief character, Phineas proves himself to be an excellent fighter as he manages to fight off the guards.
  • Doomy Dooms of Doom: When trying to infiltrate the Underworld:
Phineas: I don't mean to be a doomsayer, but uhh, DOOM! Doom, doom, doom!
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Upon seeing what Daggeron's doing to the toads, Hekatoid shrieks, "My babies! That monster!"
  • Foreshadowing: Gekkor objects to being taken out of the fight in favor of Matoombo, referring to him as a softie.
  • Genre Blindness: Toby's been on an exercise kick lately, so he notes the physically fit Rangers should've realized they could use that to their advantage against the overweight Hekatoid.
  • Group Hug: The episode closes out on one, which Jenji says he loves.
  • Hope Spot:
    • Daggeron was ready to use his Zord's Finishing Move on Hekatoid, but the power was drained from keeping the toads from raining down on the city.
    • Subverted when the Rangers get their powers back. Just as they do, the toads begin raining down on the city and Hekatoid declares victory, but they suddenly become frozen.
  • It's All My Fault: As things spiral out of control, Nick blames himself and says none of this would've happened if he hadn't stopped in Briarwood in the first episode.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Phineas did sometimes display some pretty impressive acrobatics, but now he finally gets to put them to use against some Elite Mooks. Some pretty definitive curbstomping ensues.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Xander can relate to Nick feeling alone. Nick is incredulous that "Mr. Personality" gets it, but Xander explains he had a rough time after moving to this country: left his old friends behind, no new friends for a long while, constantly teased for his accent, etc.
  • Pun: "I'm wipin' the floor with them!"
  • Ship Tease: There's some cute moments between Phineas and Leelee.
  • Skepticism Failure: "It was true! They really are the Power Rangers!"
  • Tempting Fate: Daggeron calls out his Zord's Finishing Move, only to find there's no power left for that.
Hekatoid: Seems you wasted your power. Have some of mine!
  • Victory by Endurance: Sculpin opts for this in the confrontation with Leanbow. He has Gekkor fight first and after Leanbow becomes tired, he has the even stronger Matoombo take over. When Leanbow is at his most exhausted and distracted, Sculpin stabs him in the back.
  • You Are Not Alone: As Nick crumbles under the pressure, Xander reminds him that he'll always have the other Rangers by his side.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After retrieving the Master's essence, Sculpin remarks they have no use for Leanbow any longer. He promptly sends Leanbow crashing into an abyss and leaves him to die.
