Tropes

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: The lady who says that there's "no such thing as monsters". Even discounting the prior portion of the season, it's the crossover, confirming that yes, the last seven years of monster attacks count. Because of this, Linkara has labelled the woman who said this "The Dumbest Woman In Power Rangers Ever."
    • What makes this even worse is that Lightspeed Rescue is the first season where the Rangers didn't have secret identities - they were openly known as the Power Rangers in public. Furthermore, their non-Ranger identities were rather well known.
  • Battle in the Rain: The opening, with Leo grabbing his Quasar Saber out of the stone to battle Triskull's goons.
  • Comic Book Death: Trakeena turns out to have survived the last battle from Lost Galaxy, though her face is pretty messed up. She's also reverted back to her original, humanoid form, with none of the Deviot reverb she got after falling into the cocoon.
  • Lighter and Softer: Compared to the dark, gritty and even suspenseful Kyuu Kyuu Sentai Go Go Five Vs Gingaman, this team-up is much lighter in tone with a lot of the darker aspects of Gill toned down or downplayed.
  • Mooks: Triskull has his own unique ones, the Ghouls, which are pretty much Superpowered Mooks.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Trakeena has a mask over her face, to hide the fact she has a new actor. Amy Miller walked off the set due to concern over the plot being dominated by Heather, as well as a dispute over salary. Danny Slavin also walked off set for the same reasons; Christopher Glenn completed the ADR work uncovered by Slavin and a stand-in was used in scenes Slavin wasn’t present for.
  • Remember the New Guy?: This is the first appearance of Triskull and the Ghouls. Yet Leo acts as if they've always been part of Trakeena's gang.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Heather the little girl. Her subplot does take up a surprising amount of the two parter's plot.
  • The Other Darrin: Jennifer Burns takes over from Amy Miller as Trakeena.
  • Too Dumb to Live: When Heather asks for another woman's help after her mother is abducted, the older woman says that there's no such things as monsters. This is midway through the season, after dozens of monsters had attacked the city. Not to mention that just a few years ago, Earth was temporarily taken over by monsters. And this is the team-up episode, confirming that, yes, the last seven seasons of monsters attacks did happen. Not to mention this girl says her mother has been kidnapped. It shouldn't matter what type of thing she says did it - her mom was kidnapped and the woman walks away giving no help. Not surprisingly, the woman is later called "The Dumbest Person in Power Rangers" in response by Linkara.
