Olympius has Jinxer hatch an egg that will release a monster that will destroy the whole city. Although Jinxer didn't count on Artie, a petty thief, who steals the egg and holds it for ransom.
Tropes
- Breather Episode: Lightspeed Rescue is one of the grimmer seasons of Power Rangers—e.g., "Go Volcanic"'s tense plot of a gunman commandeering a bus. But between Birdbane's kooky mannerisms, the Rangers' unconvincing disguises, and the Batlings ransacking a grocery store, it's clear this episode isn't all that serious.
- Just Like Robin Hood: Artie's a skateboarding petty thief who relishes being chased, but he gives a lot of what he steals to the homeless and has no intention of actually letting the demons have the dangerous monster egg he's holding for ransom.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Birdbane's voice is based on the late comedian Ed Wynn.
- Ransom Drop: Artie gets the demons to put $20,000 in a recycling bin while he drops them the monster egg with a remote-controlled helicopter. The "egg" he drops is just a bouncy ball, and the recycling bin is tied to the jet-ski Artie is driving, allowing him to speed off with the money.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Kelsey gives one to Artie when he insists he earned $20,000 he stole and scolds for his selfishness when there are people in danger.
- Kelsey: What?! You didn't earn it, you stole it. You're nothing but a common thief. You should be ashamed! People are in trouble and all you can do is think of yourself.
- You Have Failed Me: At the end of the episode, Jinxer is punished and attacked by a furious Olympius for failing to secure the egg until it hatched.
