Recap / Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode Forty Two The Invasion

Go To

A ship full of Rafkonians show up on the Rangers's doorstep just as Void Queen puts her final plan into motion, but as the Rangers quickly learn, the Rafkonians have their own intentions for planet Earth.

Tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Several old Sporix monsters return as part of Void Queen's plan.
  • Call-Back: Ollie initially warns Zayto not to trust the Rafkonians after what Slyther pulled way back in "Phoning Home". This time, however, they really are Rafkonians.
  • Cassandra Truth: Turns out the Rafkonians had heard all those messages Zayto had been sending out, they just hadn't believed them. Pretty understandable, given it'd been sixty-five million years since anyone had seen or heard of the Knights of Rafkon.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The lead Rafkonian, played by a white woman, tells the distinctly non-white Zayto and Aiyon her reasoning for forcibly colonizing mankind is to safely "control" them because we don't know how to manage either ourselves or our planet.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The episode title can either refer to the Sporix army attacking the city, or the Rafkonians arriving and intending to colonize Earth.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • While the full reveal won't come until the end of the next episode, listeners with a good ear will figure out who Amelia's parents are from the sound of their voices alone.
    • The Rafkonians change their minds about humanity thanks to Pop-Pop? This wasn't the first time...
  • Humans Are Bastards: The Rafkonians feel this way about humanity, that we've done too bad a job looking after ourselves and the planet. They come around after meeting Pop-Pop.
  • The Reveal: Amelia is an alien. Pop-Pop isn't her real grandfather, but was given her when a disaster befell Area 62.
  • Shovel Strike: Pop-Pop tries to hit a Sporix with a shovel; unfortunately the shovel gets destroyed.
Pop-Pop: (staring at what remained of his shovel) This was supposed to be unbreakable English oak. The infomercial lied!
  • So Last Season: The Sporix which previously took an individual episode each now go down easy, thanks to assistance from the Rafkonians.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: When the Sporix begin rampaging across the city, the Ranger and Rafkonians reluctantly team up to stop them, as Zayto points out that if they fight, the Sporix will do what they did to Rafkon, and there won't be a planet for anybody. The Rafkonian leader makes it clear that the truce is only until the Sporix are dealt with. Fortunately, after encountering Pop-Pop and realizing humans aren't as bad as she thought, she comes around, becoming actual allies with the Rangers.
  • Wham Episode: Amelia discovers she's adopted, with Pop-Pop having found her after an accident in Area 62.
  • Wham Line: Pop-Pop finally reveals to Amelia what he saw in Area 62.
Pop-Pop: A young couple...aliens...were trapped in the rubble. They had a baby. You. It was you.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain:
    • One last time for Zayto and Aiyon. They finally meet some more Rafkonians! Proper Rafkonians! Who want to conquer mankind... yay?
    • On the reverse end, it turns out the Rafkonians had abandoned their homeworld to allow it time to heal after the Sporix rampage, until someone went and caused it to blow up.
