Recap / Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 44 Evox Unleashed

Go To

Evox/Venjix finally executes his ultimate masterplan and the Beast Morphers Rangers must give everything they've got to stop him once and for all, even if it means that one of their own must make an ultimate sacrifice to ensure they succeed.

Tropes:

  • Back from the Dead: Evox/Venjix resurrects Cycletron, Bulldozertron, Infernotron, and Dumbbelltron to keep the Rangers busy while he breaks into Tower One.
  • Bag of Spilling: Implied, given that the Cloud Hatchet that Steel summons can harm Evox/Venjix, indicating he somehow no longer has the RPM Ranger data he downloaded from Dr. K's computer (and is in fact the specific flashback of Venjix shown during the big reveal last episode).
  • Bait-and-Switch: The epilogue features Steel fighting some thugs. It turns out Steel became an actor and he and the "thugs" were working on a scene.
  • Big "NO!": Nate when Evox fatally wounds Steel, sending him into the grid.
  • Break Out the Museum Piece: The Rangers use weapons from previousnote  iteration of Rangers to fight Evox/Venjix.
  • Call-Back: The Dance Party Ending uses the same song from the Imagine Spot of "The Silva Switch" as a nod to the song being about Steel's happiness of being human for a day in that episode.
  • The Cameo: James Gaylyn returns as Colonel Mason Truman to personally deliver Scrozzle alongside Ben and Betty, who had been hiding in Corinth for a year, to Devon, now the Commander of Grid Battleforce.
  • Continuity Nod: When Steel becomes a real human, he asks if it'll last more than one day. It's a nod to "The Silva Switch", when he and Nate temporarily switched bodies.
  • Dance Party Ending: The series ends with everyone dancing in celebration of Steel's birthday.
  • Darkest Hour: Coral Harbor is evacuated, Steel is killed, and Evox/Venjix finally gains access to the Morphin' Grid and its infinite power thereof in this episode.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Since the Rangers weapons' data has been downloaded by Venjix/Evox, they come up with their own weapon he never expected: their vault of Legendary Ranger weapons.
Evox/Venjix: What??!! Those aren't Grid Battleforce weapons!
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After tons of trouble and a world-shaking revelation about Evox, the Rangers are able to brave the virus's assaults and finally destroy Evox/Venjix forever. One year after that victory, Scrozzle has been captured by Ben and Betty who are full-time officers, Devon is Commander of Grid Battleforce, Zoey and Nate are promoting a new energy program via wind and solar energy, Ravi and Roxy are still together with now-General Shaw joining Ravi on painting, and Steel is an actor with Blaze as his stunt double.
  • Evil Is Bigger: Evox/Venjix's final form is five times bigger than the Beast Ultrazord, making him one of the few villains to actually be bigger than a Megazord.
  • Foregone Conclusion: The Ranger Nation pretty much guessed how Steel would wind up by the end of the episode.
  • Internal Reveal: Muriel Reeves learns that Zoey is the Yellow Ranger.
  • Killed Off for Real: After cheating death so many times, Evox/Venjix is finally destroyed permanently.
Evox/Venjix: No! It can't be! Human DNA! AAAAAHHH! It's corrupting my systems! CURSE YOU, RANGERS!!!! *dies in an extravagantly spectacular explosion*
    Devon: Evox... ELIMINATED!!!
  • Killed Offscreen: The resurrected Cycletron and Dumbbelltron are both destroyed offscreen.
  • Mythology Gag: Steel going at it alone to destroy Venjix/Evox is similar to how Kendrix had to destroy Psycho Pink's weapon, even ended up being killed by it (although in Kendrix's case her attack successfully destroyed the weapon whereas Steel failed to do so.) His resurrection is played out like that of Mack's as both were robots who became resurrected as a human.
  • No-Sell: The anti-virus arrow that Nate and Dr. K had developed in the previous episode proves ineffective against Evox after he absorbs enough Morph-X to become strong enough to overcome it.
  • So Proud of You: Muriel Reeves's reaction to Zoey revealing herself to be the Yellow Ranger.
  • This Cannot Be!: Evox says this when the Rangers channel their own DNA against him.
  • Time Skip: Following Evox/Venjix's defeat, the show jumps ahead exactly one year.
  • Took a Level in Badass: During the Time Skip, Ben and Betty managed to captured Scrozzle offscren.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: A year after Evox/Venjix was permanently destroyed, Devon has been promoted to Commander of Grid Battleforce while Shaw has become a general who takes up painting alongside Ravi, Nate and Zoey are promoting wind and solar energy as an alternative to Morph-X, Ben and Betty have become officers, and Steel has become an actor with Blaze as his stunt double.
  • You Are Too Late: Said by Evox after Steel's attempt to destroy him with the anti-virus arrow fails.
