The gang has reunited with Ritchie and his Pikachu, Sparky. Ritchie has been tracking the mysterious Pokémon that Ash and the others have been looking for as well. The four travelers meet a kid named Oliver and his Lanturn who happens to be with a baby Lugia named Silver. Little does anyone suspect, however, that Cassidy and Butch of Team Rocket are plotting to capture the young Pokémon to draw out its' parents.

- Big Damn Heroes: Luka comes just in time to stop Cassidy from taking Silver.

- Ritchie returns for the time being with Sparky (who returned in the finale of the last episode).
- Luka also returns from Mantine Overboard.
- Cassidy and Butch also return after being absent since the finale of Season 3. They were absent completely in Season 4 except for a cameo on a poster in The Poké Spokesman.
- Call-Back: To the second film, Pokémon 2000, where both James and Ash remember the Lugia from said film. It was also in the Japanese version, contrary to popular belief.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Butch and Cassidy successfully stealing Silver while Ash and friends watch in horror.
- Remember the New Guy?: Luka says "Oh no you don't, Cassidy!" during her Big Damn Heroes moment...despite not meeting her before this episode.
- Villainous Glutton: Implied with Dr. Namba.
- Wham Shot: After Cassidy and Butch's Pokémon are beaten, the duo decide "Full Speed Ahead!" to capture Silver. Just then, a boat shows up to ram into Butch and Cassidy's ship and on that boat is:Luka: Oh no you don't, Cassidy!
