Caught in a sudden thunderstorm, our heroes quickly seek shelter from the elements at an ominous looking castle on a nearby cliff. Although this seemingly vacant fortress is a little on the spooky side, Ash, Misty and Brock would rather be jumpy than soggy. That is, until they hear moaning coming from a nearby corridor! - Failure Is the Only Option: Brock's efforts to win the heart of Anna fails as usual, as his newly evolved Golbat's Supersonic is too powerful for medical use.
- Haunted Castle: Zig-zagged. It's set up as one, but it's really a medical clinic...with a labyrinth full of traps underneath it.
- Hospital Hottie: Dr. Anna is quite attractive and the target for Brock's affection.
- Identical Twin Id Tag: Anna's Zubat Mimi wears a bow.
- Imagine Spot: At the end of the episode, Brock fantisizes marrying Anna twice, but the second one ends abruptly as Anna turns him down and breaks his heart.
- Laser-Guided Karma: During the trek out of the labyrinth, Jessie pushes Wobbufet in front of her to trigger a trap. When nothing happens, she walks to where Wobbufet is, which sets off the trap and crushes her.
- Mundane Utility: The Pokemon who work at Dr. Anna's clinic use their attacks in ways that are useful in medical procedures.
- Stuff Blowing Up: Pineco's propencity for self-destructing comes up again but this time it's the key to opening the door to the passageway Brock is trapped in.
