The OTP of Johto: Snubbull and Meowth('s tail)

The one where... Meowth gets a new admirer.

With pet food prepared by a French chef, rooms of WalkMaster exercise equipment and closets stocked with the latest in Pokémon fashion, life couldn't be much better for a Palm Hills Snubbull. When Team Rocket sets their sights on the upper crust, though, this pampered Pokémon will have to find an inner strength or risk losing its home.

Tropes

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Snubbull becomes this for Meowth. At least the way she likes biting his tail. He becomes part of her inspiration to run away.
  • Cultural Translation: Brock's rice balls, as usual. This time they're "popcorn balls".
  • Demon Head: Snubbull's Scary Face attack. Yes, that's an actual canon attack.note
  • Formally-Named Pet: Snubbull's groom, Winthrop Snubbullfeather.
  • Gilded Cage: Snubbull just wants to run around outside.
  • It Came from Beverly Hills: Palm Hills is an expy. There's even a map to movie stars' homes.
  • Late to the Realization: Although the pet wedding is called off, and Madame Muchmoney learns her lesson on coddling her, it comes too late to prevent Snubbull from running away again.
  • Mister Muffykins: Her Idle Rich owner treats her like this, but Snubbull actually resents it.
  • Runaway Fiancé: Snubbull has been trying to get away from her Arranged Marriage.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: The female Snubbull's owner dresses her in ribbons and frilly dresses. The male, Winthrop, wears a top hat and monocle.
  • Tropey, Come Home: At the end of the episode, Snubbull runs away again. She'd spend the next season and a half chasing Meowth's tail.
  • Tyop on the Cover: The original title card reads "Snubble Snobbery". It won't be the last time an error like this is made in the English dub. The title is corrected on later digital releases, including the Pokémon website.
