An inexperienced young Trainer mistakenly scares off his own Farfetch'd. Ash and friends are happy to help, but will have to find it before Team Rocket, their stomachs as empty as their piggy bank, can get their hands on this savory Pokémon.

Tropes

  • An Aesop: The best way to get anything done is to work together as a team.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Onix arrives just in time as Ash's Pokémon are being overwhelmed by Weezing's sludge.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Jessie's first thought when fighting Farfetch'd is to throw Meowth at it. He drops Meowth back at her.
  • Hypocritical Humor: While Misty is snarking that Ash's pokemon do things at their own pace rather than listen to Ash, she notices Psyduck has fallen asleep.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Sylvester's father could have been a bit less harsh, he is ultimately proven correct that any decent trainer works with his pokemon instead of just telling it what to do.
  • Mugging the Monster: Ultimately how Farfetch'd encounter with Team Rocket turns out. While it initially has fun trolling them, as soon as they send out all of their pokemon it quickly finds out they still dangerous criminals not to be trifled with.
  • Oh, Crap!: Farfetch'd's reaction once Team Rocket manages to grab its leek.
  • Spin to Deflect Stuff: Farfetch'd uses his leek this way to defend against Arbok's Poison Sting.
  • Tough Love: Ultimately, the relationship between Sylvester and his father.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Sylvester is trying to prove himself to his father.
