Roy tries to become friends with the Wattrel that took his sandwich, but found out that it can't fly. Seeing this, Roy decided to help Wattrel learn how to fly. Despite many failed attempts, Roy got an idea from Ludlow, which worked. However, Wattrel ended up bonding with Roy and decided that it wanted to be with him instead, as it fly's back to him. Seeing this, Roy catches Wattrel and adds it to his team. Meanwhile, Liko is lured into a trap by Spinel as he had his Beheeyem hypnotize her and Sprigatito, as he successfully get her pendant.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Acrophobic Bird: Wattrel is deathly afraid of heights, and won't fly because of that until Roy helps it overcome its fear.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Spinel not only succeeds in stealing Liko's pendant, but he also erases her memory.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Wattrel decides to stay with Roy instead of being with its species because he was the first person to be nice to it.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Exploited. Spinel's Beeyeehem overhears Murdock lamenting that the store didn't have some Herba Mystica in stock, and uses it to lure Liko out with a fake advertisement from the grocery store claiming they have it in stock. Liko is then lured into an alley, has her memory wiped, and Spinel walks off with the pendant.
  • Face Your Fears: Wattrel faced its fear of heights through Roy's help.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Liko feels that she and Dot are starting to truly become friends despite getting off to a rough start.
  • Hypno Ray: Although it's technically not a ray gun, Spinel's Beheeyem using its flickering fingers counts.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Spinel's Beheeyem hits Liko and Sprigatito with a psychic attack that wipes their memories, making the duo completely unaware of what had happened—or that Spinel had swiped their pendant.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Friede neglects to tell anyone on the team that he was attacked by someone with a Magneton and a Beeyeehem. This means nobody thinks to look after the kids, and when Liko goes out on her own, she's mind wiped and left without her pendant.
  • No-Sell: Friede has his Charizard Terastalize into a Dark Type, nullifying all Psychic attacks.
  • The Reveal: Friede demonstrates that his Charizard possesses Dark Tera Typing.
  • So Proud of You: Murdock takes Liko to Levencia on a shopping trip as thanks for her kindness to Dot, and treats her to some ice cream.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: The Pokémon franchise is normally very lighthearted, and this series is no exception. Now, Spinel demonstrates that the series is no longer dealing with some lighthearted goofballs who couldn't steal one Pikachu when he lures Liko to an alleyway, then brainwashes her into getting amnesia.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Or in this case, would wipe a child's mind and steal their pendant. Spinel hits Liko with a psychic attack after luring her into an alleyway, and walks away with her pendant.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Spinel has his Magneton interfere with the Brave Olivine and its systems, forcing Friede to investigate so he can be lured into an alley and attacked while he sits on the sidelines and studies him. Either he can get Friede out of the way to leave Liko open for an ambush, or (in what ultimately happens), he can gauge Friede's capabilities and have a better plan of attack next time the two go face-to-face.
