After arriving in Stow-On-Side, Ash and Goh seek out Allister so they can have the Ghost-type Gym Leader teach Ash's Gengar how to Gigantamax. Unfortunately, he can only Dynamax, so the three set out to find some Max Mushrooms so they can make Max Soup and allow the Ghost type to reach its full potential.

- Undying Loyalty: Allister witnesses Gengar protect Ash from getting attacked by a wild Drakloak, and is later confided in by the Ghost type that it wants to get stronger for Ash's sake.
- When He Smiles: Overjoyed with Allister helping it out, Gengar gives him a big hug, causing the boy's mask to fall off. His face seen for the first time, and he's happily laughing at how he helped a friend. Ash and Goh, though both still asleep, catch a brief glimpse of it.
