- Call-Back: Although it wasn't said, Pikachu not trusting Chairman Rose has a lot to do with Team Rocket and various villainous organizations, such as Team Galactic and Team Flare, betraying, capturing and using him alongside his friends for their plans one too many times.
- Death Glare: Oleana gives a terrifying one to Ash after he declines Chairman Rose's offer.
- Drives Like Crazy: Sonia's driving is pretty reckless. The expressions on Goh and Raboot's faces say it all.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: The moment Pikachu sees Chairman Rose, he’s already angry and sparking electricity, compared to Ash and Leon being more trusting.
- Excellent Judge of Character: Pikachu quickly realized that something is up with Chairman Rose when he first meets him as he glares at him instead of being trusting of him like Ash and Leon.
- Funny Background Event: Raboot's dazed and terrified expression while sitting in the back of Sonia's car due to her driving skills.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Oleana's first subordinate ends up helping Goh and Sonia find their next clue when he challenges them to a Dynamax battle, which leads to the Stow-on-Side mural getting destroyed in the process, revealing the statues of the two heroes: Zacian and Zamazenta.
