Professor Cerise is running a Pokémon Orienteering session that sees Ash and Goh put in the role as guides for the young kids participating. The goal is to try to see many different Pokémon across Vermilion City before ending up at Vermilion Harbor.
- Batter Up!: Farfetch'd uses its leer as a bat to hit Goh's Poké Balls back at him.
- The Bus Came Back: A Lugia, quite possibly the same one Ash and Goh befriended earlier, comes to their help during the fight with Team Rocket. It's actually Mew in disguise.
- The Ending Changes Everything: Lugia actually being Mew makes Ash and Goh riding on its back take on a whole new light and a lot of Dramatic Irony over how Mew is really close by.
- Mugging the Monster: Oliver does this by challenging Ash.
- Rule of Three: Goh tries to catch the same Farfetch'd three times. The first two are failures with Farfetch'd hitting the Poké Ball back at Goh, but the third time is successful after Goh tricks it into swinging too soon.
- Wham Shot: Lugia turns out to be Mew.
