Behold, Lillie's Z-Powered form.

With Lusamine trapped in Ultra Space, Lillie uses her new-found courage to go out and save her mother. In order to do so, she heads to the Altar of the Sunne on Poni Island. She ends up getting help from Gladion and the other twerps.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adapted Out: The Totem Jangmo-o's ally Noivern and Scizor aren't present.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Ash and the others arrive just in time to save the siblings from the cave's falling debris with a well aimed Electro Ball.
  • Call-Back: Tapu Koko gets Ash's attention by stealing his cap, like it did in the second episode.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with the twerps arriving at the Altar of the Sunne, where all the Tapus are awaiting them.
  • Grew a Spine: Lillie told Gladion that having Ash and their friends help is the best way in rescuing their mother, which shows that she standing up to her brother for what she believe is right.
  • Honor Before Reason: Despite Gladion's insistence Ash stay out of family matters, when the latter realises Lillie and Gladion have ran to Poni Island to solve things, he and the other students make a beeline to help them.
  • Innocently Insensitive: During the ride home, Ash bemoans Nebby's state, and that Lusamine isn't around to figure out what has happened. He quickly realises how tactless this was when Lillie and Gladion have just lost their mother however, and meekly apologises, though Lillie is understanding.
  • Never My Fault: In the beginning, which picks up from when Nihilego took Lusamine, Wicke and Burnet dress Faba down for using the Ultra Wormhole machine. He tries to pin the Ultra Beast's appearance on Lusamine.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Gladion uses a Fairy Memory with Silvally to make quick work of the Dragon Trial site.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Lillie breaks out the game's "Z-Powered Form" look. She spends most of the early mission being The Load (to her dismay) though when she and Gladion are met with the Totem Kommo-O and it's pack, her battle skills and resourcefulness with Snowy are put to use again.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: At a ravine, Lillie thinks there's an invisible bridge. Gladion tells her the bridge is just out. A little before that, Lillie thinks she needs to move statues to solve a puzzle to open a door. Gladion and Silvally reveal the door was unlocked, and that moving one of the statues opens a pit out of which rusty spikes thrust out right where Lillie would have been; only Silvally expecting the trap, and jumping away in time, prevents it from causing injury. On top of that, they didn't need to do any of that as Ash and the others just took a boat.
