Once more, Silvally is free to protect.

With Lillie remembering Silvally, Faba ends up kidnapping her. He wants to make sure she doesn't remember everything that happened the night she was nearly abducted by an Ultra Beast.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Call-Back: Ash references the first episode when Nebby teleported him and Lillie to a restaurant he went to with his mother when he first arrived in Alola.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: Gladion hammers in how much Lusamine's Parental Neglect has mentally hurt Lillie after telling Lusamine the truth about what Faba did.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the places Nebby teleports to is the restaurant where Ash first caught sight of Tapu Koko.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Neither Ash or Gladion are any match for Faba with their default team. When Gladion gets hold of Silvally however, he quickly returns the favor. This is primarily because breaking Silvally's helmet allows Gladion to use the RKS System.
  • Damsel in Distress: Lillie ends up kidnapped by Faba, who wants to erase her memories to avoid having his past follies discovered.
  • Determinator: Through Ash's upbeat attitude and encouragement, Lillie not only realizes that she can't give up on getting over her fear of touching Pokémon, but is also inspired to find answers in order to make that happen, which Nebby is happy to do for her. Lillie's determination pays off when she remembers her past, allowing her to let go of her fear for good and thank Ash for not giving up on her.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Faba wants his Hypno to hypnotize Lillie, a formally traumatized girl who is gradually recalling her suppressed memories, all so he can get away with his actions? Can someone say gaslighting?
  • Dramatic Unmask: When Gladion summons Type: Null to save Lille from Faba, Type: Null instantly shatters its mask.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Lillie finally overcomes her phobia of Pokemon that she suffered from for nearly half her life.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: When Faba reveals to Jessie, James, and Meowth, that he intends on using his Hypno to erase Lillie's memory, they quit on the spot. The Terrible Trio may be criminals, but they hold memories as a very dear part of someone's personality.
Meowth: We may be the bad guys, we're not bad bad!
  • Failed a Spot Check: Gladion calls out Lusamine on this, since she never bothered to look into what had happened to cause her daughter's phobia. Gladion isn't exempt from this either, as he seems genuinely surprised that Faba covered up what had happened, having never discussed things himself until the present day.
  • Forgiveness: After being scolded by her son Gladion, Lusamine realizes how bad her behavior was and how far she let her research get in the way of her family, especially Lillie. Upon meeting up with her daughter, Lusamine embraces Lillie and tearfully apologizes to her for her past actions. Seeing that her mother is truly sorry for her actions, Lillie happily forgives her.
  • Heroic BSoD: Lillie is depressed that she can't touch Pokémon again, especially her partner, Snowy. However, through Ash's upbeat attitude and his effort in cheering her up, Lillie pulls herself together, realizing that she can't let a setback stop her from getting over her fear of touching Pokémon, and decides to find answers in order to make that happen. After remembering her past, Lillie excitedly embraces Snowy, Nebby, and Pikachu, and then thanks Ash for never giving up on her.
  • I Lied: Lusamine discovers through Gladion that Faba lied to her about his Silvally project as he told her that it failed but in reality it was a success and only did that because he didn't want her to find out an experiment he did four years prior, which ended up almost having Lillie being taken by an Ultra Beast.
  • Jerkass Realization: After Gladion tells Lusamine the truth about Lillie's phobia and outright tells her off for her behavior, Lusamine realizes how much she let her research get in the way of her kids, feeling ashamed for not seeing and doing something about Lillie's phobia with Pokémon sooner.
  • Just in Time: When Silvally charges Faba's Alakazam, Lillie finally remembers what happened the first time: Silvally didn't attack her, it saved her from Nihilego.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Faba hides the facts about him opening up an Ultra Wormhole and summoning an Ultra Beast, along with the fact that his Silvally project was a success from Lusamine for four years until Gladion told her the truth.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When Gladion tells Lusamine that her obsession with Ultra Beasts caused her to not see what Lillie went through, Lusamine feels guilty for not looking into what happened to her daughter sooner.
  • Poor Communication Kills: While Gladion is right that Lusamine's neglect is one of the reasons Lillie is traumatized, he's also in the wrong for not telling her in the first place.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gladion gives one to Lusamine for failing to see the trauma Lillie went through, and for still researching the very same creatures that tried to take her away, which causes her to feel guilt for her actions.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: Faba offers to reward the Team Rocket trio handsomely if they use his Hypno to capture and mind wipe Lillie. Team Rocket however are disgusted by the idea of erasing someone's memories, reasoning that they make a person who they are, and walk out the building.
  • Spanner in the Works: Ash's team, and particularly Nebby, chained the events that jogged Lillie's Trauma-Induced Amnesia and destroyed Faba's cover up he ran for years.
  • They Know Too Much: Faba's reasons for capturing Lillie, as her getting her memories jogged risks having his reckless endeavour with Ultra Space discovered, and the boss knowing he's responsible for her daughter's long term trauma.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: While everyone else cools down with Silvally having saved Lillie, Faba sneaks out to avoid being challenged.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gladion chastises Ash for leaving Nebby free to teleport Lillie, resulting in her meeting Silvally and completely regressing in her phobia from the trauma. Gladion also gave one to his mother as well for failing to see the trauma Lillie went through, which got her to feel ashamed.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Faba has no qualms sending his Psychic team onto Ash and Gladion as well as their Pokemon. Then Alakazam restrains her psychically and Hypno attempts to wipe Lillie's mind, leaving her screaming in agony.
