We know falling asleep during its song is Jigglypuff's Berserk Button. But what if they're already asleep?

Samson Oak teaches the twerps about his Pokémon, Komala. Things go awry when the Kanto stowaway, Jigglypuff, comes along and puts everyone to sleep. But has it met its match with the Pokémon that always sleeps?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: When Jigglypuff sees that Komala drew on it, it's actually amused that it got a taste of its own medicine.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Everyone expects Jigglypuff to be angry after seeing Komala drew on its face. Instead, Jigglypuff is actually impressed.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Not at first, but once Komala not only puts Jigglypuff to sleep but also doodles on its face, it actually seems pretty impressed and departs peacefully.
  • Ditzy Genius: As it turns out Samson Oak is quite a skilled battler. His Komala is untouchable against Litten, Turtonator and Jigglypuff, and when Jigglypuff won't relent, Oak comes up with an idea to have the two at peace, teach Komala to "Sing".
  • Face Doodling : Ash and the gang get this twice when Jigglypuff flies to the Pokemon School.
  • Sleep Walking: As is the norm with its species, Komala is perfect competent at battling even though it's always asleep.
