This is probably one of Ash's riskiest plans to help a Pokémon ever — and given the number of risky ideas he's had, that is really saying something.

The twerps have a campout in the forest one night, when they start getting drained. Something in the forest is sucking their bodies dry. It turns out to be a hungry Morelull.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Balloon Belly: Ash eats enough food to satiate himself and Morelull, and they both end up with this.
  • Eye Cam: When Ash is waking up from suddenly falling asleep, it's shown from this perspective.
  • Foreshadowing: At the beginning of the episode Lana tells a story about people going into the forest (that the gang is currently camping in) and ending up falling asleep for no reason at all and ending up skin & bones (though the others don't believe her). Guess what happens to everybody (except for Lillie, yes this includes Lana herself) later in the episode.
  • Human Resources: Morelull is leeching nutrients from the twerps because it's hungry. In the end, Ash has Lillie and Mallow cook massive amounts of food so Morelull will only feed off of him.
  • Immune to Slapstick: It looks this way for Lillie at first, since the Morelull never drains her. As it turns out she just sprayed herself heavily with Repel. This means she goes hungry when the Shiinotic replenishes them however.
  • Living Battery: Sophocles uses Charjabug to power an electric lantern.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Litten lights a campfire for Lillie with Ember. Snowy, who wants to help, immediately puts it out with Powder Snow.
  • Scary Flashlight Face: Lana tells the other campers a campfire story with this, which actually later comes true.
