The one were...we say goodbye to Greninjanote
As the twerps travel one last time, they are interrupted by the last fugitive member of Team Flare: Xerosic! He reveals plans to resume Lysandre's work and continue to remake Kalos in his image...and perhaps get some revenge on Clemont.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: When he is captured, Xerosic still can't understand why Clemont did not submit to his Mind-Control Device.
- Hidden Eyes: At one point, Ash again lowers his head so the brim of his hat hides his eyes, something frequently done when he parts with one of his Pokémon.
- Hollywood Skydiving: Xerosic jumps out of his plane to escape the twerps. Clemont grabs him with his Aipom Arm.
- Invisibility Cloak: Xerosic's plane can go invisible.
- Mind-Control Device: Xerosic wants to use Clemont's genius to advance Team Flare's work to re-gain control of the Zygarde. And he won't take no for an answer. In the end, however, Clemont had a device for just such a contingency.
- The Promise: Bonnie wants Squishy to join her when she begins her own Pokémon journey.
- Put on a Bus: Goodra is released once more to protect the wetlands of Route 14. And Ash-Greninja is released to help Squishy and Z2 exterminate the remaining fragments of the Giant Rock that Lysandre used to build the fake Zygarde.
- The Remnant: Xerosic tries to form Team Neo-Flare, but his plans come to a quick end.
- Took a Level in Badass: Greninja's transformation into Ash-Greninja becomes permanent.
- Underside Ride: The twerps think Xerosic ran over Ash-Greninja with his van. But really it ducked under and grabbed onto its undercarriage. Using their Bond, Ash was able to track Xerosic as a result.
