You idiots.

An entire town appears to be under control of Beeheyem. They are attracted to Amulet Coins held by Ash and James, as well as the charm on Meowth. After the Beeheyem kidnap Meowth, the twerps and Team Rocket team up to try to figure out what happened.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Brainwashed: The Beeheyem hypnotized an entire town to have the denizens look for their energy module. Anyone who was not under hypnosis would see the hypnotized as Beeheyem.
  • Brutal Honesty: The Beeheeyem explain Ash, Jessie and James' immunity to hypnosis straight up as them being idiots. They wisely backtrack and sugarcoat the explanation when they get a rather angry reaction.
  • Hidden Depths: Only Ash, Jessie and James remain unhypnotised by the Beeheyem because they were, in the latter's words, idiots. The likes of Meowth, Iris and Axew however were hypnotized. Although, Pikachu was also hypnotized by the Beeheyem but snapped out of it when he heard Ash's voice.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: After seeing Pikachu hypnotized, Ash pull this when he told his best friend that he wanted him back to who he is, which got through to him.
  • MockGuffin: The Amulet Coin found by Ash looks like an energy module the Beeheyem lost in their ship's crash. It also looks suspiciously like Meowth's koban charm. It turns out James found the real energy module, which he thought was another Amulet Coin.
  • Series Continuity Error: The reason why Beeheyem can't hypnotize Ash, Jessie, and James is because idiots are hard to hypnotize, but they have been hypnotized multiple times throughout the series by Melvin the Magician, Exeggutor, Ash's own Noctowl, a herd of Stantler, a Mismagius, Marcus's Bronzong and a generation later, Malamar all with no problem.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: The Beeheeyem's reaction when Jessie assumes their immunity to brainwashing was because they were geniuses. Given their outrage to the previous explanation (see above), they wisely play along.
  • Take That!: Jessie asks the Beeheyem why she, James, and Ash weren't affected by their hypnosis. The result is the line up top. Their reaction makes the scene.
    • Even funnier, Pikachu has the same reaction even though he was hypnotized.
  • Too Dumb to Fool: According to the Beeheyem, this is the reason that Ash, Jessie and James weren't hypnotized. They don't take it very well, causing the Beeheyem to backtrack and let them believe it's because they're "gifted". They immediately accept the correction from "idiots" to "gifted".
