  • Alpha Bitch: The Flower Garden Troupe, particularly Moira.
  • Break the Haughty: Moira is reduced to childish, thrashing, barely intelligable rage at Iris when she's been beaten at her own game and both she and her Cinccino are soiled by mud.
  • Disguised in Drag: Boys aren't allowed in the school, so the revenge scheme requires Ash, Cilan, and a few Pokémon to pass themselves off as girls. None of them are particularly happy about what Iris dragged them into.
  • Filler: There is no plot advancement made beyond leaving Cynthia's villa and heading toward the Unova League.
  • Hypocrite: Moira accuses Iris of cheating in the final match even though she gleefully abused her Cinccino's natural oil ability to nullify their first battle.
  • Lost Aesop: Given how only Iris feels slighted enough by Moira's insults and attitude to go try to get Revenge and makes Ash and Cilan go with her to the Flower Garden Troupe's school rather than just continue on with the journey, it may seem like she's being set up to learn the futility of holding grudges and trying to get even rather than taking the high road. But no, Iris accomplishes what she wanted to and the three heroes move on without anything having been learned by anyone whatsoever.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: This pops up a lot in this episode, as the Flower Garden Troupe are prone to it and to show them up, Iris does it right back at them.
  • Paper Tiger: Cher is as haughty as her two friends in the Troupe, but the moment things haven't gone her way, she becomes a whining, bawling mess.
  • Revenge: Iris' motivation for infiltrating the Flower Graden Troupe's school is to pay them back for insulting her Pokemon and Ash's Snivy for being "unattractive".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When it's all over, Ms. Chandler offers our trio a place in her school. They politely refuse and immediately run for the hills before anyone can find out who they really are.
  • Straw Feminist: The Flower Garden Troupe's school reeks of this mindset, with their "no boys allowed" policy.
