Tropes

  • Balloon Belly: Team Rocket after eating a huge chip bag.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Staravia returns just in time to free Pachirisu from Team Rocket.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: "We forgot Gliscor!"
  • Butt-Monkey: Truly, the amount of hilarity that was made at Gliscor's expense...
  • Call-Back: Brock reveals the reason Pachirisu's sick is because of excess electricity storage, which Ash remembers happening to Pikachu when he first started in Hoenn.
  • Covered in Gunge: Staravia goes AWOL when Team Rocket accidentally note  hit him with a sticky substance that he spends most of the episode trying to remove.
  • A Day in Her Apron: Ash and Dawn have to babysit their combined teams while Brock leaves for an errand.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Looking for berries in the woods, Ash tries to check on a tree, and Dawn had to tell him that he was actually inspecting Brock's Sudowoodo.
  • Flashback Cut: When Ash reminded himself of Pikachu also having an electricity build-up once.
  • The Glomp: Gliscor does this on Brock while the latter is trying to avoid it.
  • Mythology Gag: In their search for the twerps, the Rockets nearly run into a Zapdos in the air. Zapdos (and its "siblings") is a roaming Pokémon in Pokémon Platinum, released shortly before this episode aired.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Gliscor, when Ash rejected it and to convince Brock to help cure Dawn's ill Pachirisu.
  • Sick Episode: For Dawn's Pachirisu.
  • The Stinger: A hilarious one, where the narrator does his closing narration, and Ash and friends suddenly remember Something We Forgot: Gliscor, who's still in the middle of the forest, trying to make its way back.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Gliscor suffers one; first it gets passed over by Ash to search for Brock in favor of Staravia, then when Staravia doesn't return and Gliscor gets its chance, it crashes headfirst into a tree. Then by the time Gliscor finally finds Brock, the wind has died down to point that it can't fly, forcing Brock to leave it behind in the forest. Then everyone completely forgets about it until the end, while its still trying to its way back to them. Played for Laughs, of course.
