A sinister plot that manipulates both people and Pokémon has been realized! All of Ghetsis’ schemes are falling into place, but what does that mean for the fate of the Unova region?

The fourth episode of "Pokémon Evolutions", where Ghetsis relives old memories on how he was able to accept N into Team Plasma, shape him into being their 'king', and using him to finalize his dreams of total domination in the Unova region.

Tropes in this Episode

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • We get to see how N and Ghetsis met, including an expansion on the flashback shown in the opening sequence of Pokémon Black and White where a young N is playing in a forest with his Darmanitan, Zorua and Woobat friends before Ghetsis approaches him.
    • N's and Alder's battle is shown here beyond the results with Alder defeated, while the whole battle is still not shown we do get to see Alder's Volcarona duke it out with N's Zekrom and lose.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Alder's questions to N start putting cracks on the latter's ideals which can be noticed by N's changing expression.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends as N and Hilda are about to fight.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: To Black, as N has Zekrom under his ownership, while Hilda has the Light Stone (Reshiram's dormant form) in her possession.
  • Creepy Monotone: Anthea and Concordia are disturbingly flat in their speech, speaking like oracles in a trance.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Alder's Volcarona never really stood a chance to defeat N's Zekrom, but it still manages to land a couple of solid hits and avoids several of its attacks all while Alder is focusing on both fighting and trying to talk down N.
  • Evil-Detecting Dog: The Darmanitan accompanying a young N, growls and hisses at the mere sight of Ghetsis the moment the latter met N who was accompanied by it.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: At the end of the short, as she prepares to battle him, Hilda appears to be shedding tears for N.
