After leaving the Crystal Empire to begin their journey to Dragonia City and Flash's final Gym Battle, the group learns about an annual sled race in honor of a Roglacier that saved a travel from an avalanche, and decide to compete themselves.
- The Big Race: The annual Avalanche Sled Race, meant as a way to honor the Roglacier that saved a traveled from an avalanche by sledding down the mountain. Double Diamond wins the race.
- Dwindling Party: Played with during the race. Each of the racers are slowly eliminated as they crash their sleds, get knocked off course, or otherwise get stuck and can't continue, until it comes down to just Trixie and Double Diamond in the final stretch.
- Exact Words: The race forbids flying, but gliding is allowed.
- Famed In-Story: The Roglacier is remembered for saving a traveler from a blizzard and then sledding down the mountain to save him. Its actions are remembered every year via the sled race, meant as a way to honor it.
- History Repeats: During the Avalanche Sled Race, an avalanche starts. The announcer even lampshades how Double Diamond is reliving the tale himself.
- The Reveal: Trixie is revealed to have seven badges now, just like Flash.
- Took a Level in Badass: Trixie's Slowpoke is revealed to have finally evolved into Slowking.
