The group runs into Grand Hoof, who is investigating Team Shadow activity in some mountains, trying to discover an ancient tomb located in them and the treasure inside. As they help him investigate, Flash tries to keep his distance from Grand, until the two of them are forced together and must confront their previous failures and mistakes to each other.
- Answer Cut: Towards the end, after the two grunts are captured Flash and Grand wonder why two lower level grunts were trusted with an apparently "important" mission like finding the tomb. The final scene cuts to Doom Raizer reporting their capture to Sombra, and Sombra revealing the mission was actually a fool's errand to get rid of the two idiots.
- Beyond Redemption: Grand says that Lightning is most likely "lost to him" now, and probably has been ever since the day he lost his championship to Shining Armor.
- Brutal Honesty: When Twilight explains to Grand how Flash probably feels like he failed Grand, Grand recalls the promise he had Flash make him to beat Lightning and asks if he didn't hurt him too much. Twilight doesn't sugarcoat anything, explaning everything Flash went through after his loss and telling Grand he put too much pressure on Flash.
- It's All My Fault: When Flash finally starts apologizing to Grand for how he failed him and how he keeps messing up now, Grand stops him and apologizes himself, saying it is his fault Flash lost at the Battle Tournament due to how he talked to Lightning before the match but ended up making him worse. Grand also blames himself for the way Lightning is now, saying he should have disciplined him properly long ago to prevnt him from turning out like this.
- Reassigned to Antarctica: It turns out the two Team Shadow Grunts were sent on a wild-goose chase disguised as a mission to find the tomb located in the mountains. Sombra didn't think they would actually find anything, believing the tomb wasn't actually real.
