Go To

With Doofenshmirtz being unavailable due to jury duty, Norm fills in for him to fight Perry. Meanwhile, Phineas and the gang have fun with nanobots.

Tropes

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Lampshaded after Norm's song, which is a jolly-sounding march about the use of weaponry.
  • Call-Back: Norm offers Perry a muffin, no doubt a call back to "Muffin Time".
  • Captivity Harmonica: Dr. Diminutive plays one, much to Doof's annoyance.
  • Catchphrase Interruptus: Isabella suggests using the nanobots to make a scratching post for, but then says, "Hey!", but Phineas says he's way ahead of her as he has the nanobots spell out "Where's Perry?"
  • Copycat Mockery: Linda attempts to mock Candace's outrageous claims by going, "Mom, Phineas and Ferb have brought Genghis Khan back from the past, and he's teaching the neighbors how to throw hatchets from horseback!" but Candace is not flattered by this, because "They'll probably do that, you know."
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Norm.
  • Digging to China: Played with. Perry's tube entrance goes on pretty long, before it turns him upside-down and brings him to Shanghai, China to meet Monogram at the best noodle house there. Unfortunately, Monogram has no idea what Doof is doing because cell phone usage was not allowed on the plane and when he landed, he had no international coverage, so Perry goes back to the Tri-State Area to find out for himself.
  • Expospeak: Phineas says to the gang, "Let's get techno-mimitic!", which confuses them, before he clarifies, "Let's use technology to mimic—"
Buford: Why you gotta talk like that?
  • Insistent Terminology: Doof prefers to be called an "evil scientist" and detests the term Mad Scientist, because it implies he is either crazy or angry.
  • Jury Duty: Doof is unavailable to thwart Perry because of this, so Norm takes his place. Doof attempts to get out of it by "claiming" his occupation to be an evil scientist, but it backfires, since Dr. Diminutive is the one on the stand and Doof is arrested with him for supposedly being in cahoots with him.
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: When Perry used the nanobots to make a giant acorn, this causes Norm's squirrel to escape from his chest and as he falls to his doom, a warping down version of his Leitmotif plays.
  • More Dakka: Norm is loaded with guns as he goes out to conquer the tri-state area.
  • Not Helping Your Case:
    • Doof claims he has never before seen Dr. Diminutive, but the latter shows the judge photographs of them performing in the 2007 L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. Pudding Revue.
    • Also, Candace admits that her holding the nanobots makes her seem unhinged.
  • Opening Shout-Out: Phineas and Ferb check "creating nanobots" off the list. A shot of the nanobots writing "Hello" from the theme is recreated, lampshaded by Buford.
Buford: Yeah, yeah, main title, whatever.
  • Operation: [Blank]: Candace prepares herself for "Operation: What the Heck is Going On Here?".
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Norm's plan to take over the Tri-State Area? Load himself up with weaponry. No overly complicated schemes with inators, he just plans to use weaponry to shoot everything.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: In the photographs of the 2007 L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. Pudding Revue, both Doof and Dr. Diminutive are dressed in drag.
