Recap / Phineas And Ferb Its A Mud Mud Mud Mud World

Go To

Phineas and Ferb decide to help Candace learn parallel parking by building a monster truck arena in order to boost her confidence.

Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz is trying to introduce a new line of monster trucks to a group of investors; he builds a device to get rid of the competition: the Monster-Truck-Away-Inator.

Tropes

  • Another Dimension: Where monster trucks Dr. Doofenshmirtz hits with his laser ends up.
  • Brick Joke: When Doofenshmirtz shoots one of the investors with the Monster Truck Away-Inator to prove that it's harmless, the investor's head starts to swell up; Doof tells him that the swelling will go down eventually. Later, after Perry uses the Inator to transport Doofenshmirtz and the investors to another dimension, we get this exchange.
Investor: Hey, look guys, my swelling went down!
    Doofenshmirtz: Oh, shut up.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Doof's monster trucks which actually look like monsters. He had to get all anti-competitive.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Linda's French cooking teacher doesn't allow cellphones in class, but that doesn't stop him from bringing one himself.
  • Inventional Wisdom: Doofenshmirtz's Monster-Truck-Away-Inator for some reason has a separate dial to send Doofenshmirtz and his band of evil investors away. Lampshaded by Doofenshmirtz himself, who said that he "really need[s] to rethink [his] dials".
  • Large Ham: Isabella during the announcement for the Monster Truck Rally.
  • Rapid-Fire Descriptors: "She's a a tire spinnin', gear grindin', clutch burnin', backfirin', paint tradin', red-linin', overheatin', throttle stompin', truck drivin' girl."
  • Recycled Soundtrack: This marks the first of the series' many uses of the instrumental of "Kronk for Hire" from The Emperor's New School, often used whenever someone is talking in the manner of a commercial or giving a tour or explaining something. Here, it is used in the flashback of Candace's driving test.
  • Red Herring: You’d figure the Monster-Truck-Away-Inator would get rid of the arena, right? Nope. Instead, Phineas and Ferb sell it off to one of the competitors.
  • Shout-Out: The Chinese investor claims the way he got Perry out of the Chinese finger trap was an "Ancient Chinese secret" while holding a pair of scissors, a reference to the Calgon ads from the 1980s.
  • Special Guest: Billy Ray Cyrus, in a case of mandated corporate synergy, voices Buck Buckerson.
  • Unfortunate Name: Major Monogram received a memo that abbreviated Doofenshmirtz's name to "Doof", which makes Monogram laugh. However, "Doof" later becomes Doofenshmirtz's in-series nickname, and he even calls himself that at times.
  • Vocal Dissonance: The normally sweet-voiced Isabella suddenly gains a deep, male voice when announcing the Monster Truck Rally.
