Recap / Phineas And Ferb Canderemy

Go To

Thanks to Doofenshmirtz's Combine-inator, Candace is stuck to a sleeping Jeremy at the hip and enlists Phineas and Ferb to help while hiding the truth from Stacy, which simultaneously blows off Isabella's plans to watch a movie with Phineas.

Tropes:

  • Ascended Extra: Rover, the giant robot dog from the theme song, finally gets a proper episode.
  • Big "OMG!": Isabella goes "Oh. My. Gosh." when Phineas and Ferb are combined by the stray blast from the Combine-inator.
  • Body Horror: Phineas and Ferb when they get combined at the end. Arguably Doofenshmirtz's pet cockroach and garlic ice cream as well.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Combine-inator's blast splits in two; while one half hits Candace and Jeremy, another half hits a satellite in space; the latter is what zaps Phineas and Ferb and combines them, right before Phineas is about to see the movie with Isabella.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The movie Isabella wanted to see is from the Stumbleberry Finkbat franchise, something Phineas and Ferb are fans of as mentioned back in "Nerds of a Feather".
    • This was not the only time Isabella wanted to go somewhere with Phineas, but in the end winds up going with both him and Ferb.
    • Phineas decides to get the Molecular Separator to separate Candace from Jeremy, and Candace remembers how it split her in half.
  • Heavy Sleeper: Jeremy spends almost the entire episode asleep since he had to work the graveyard shift at Mr. Slushy Burger and ate a whole turkey and drank a whole gallon of warm milk and passed out like a light.
  • I'm Cold... So Cold...: After Dr. Doofenshmirtz uses his Combine-inator to fuse garlic ice cream and a cockroach, the cockroach expresses how cold it is as a way of telling the audience that it won't live very long:
    Roach: Sooooooo.... cooooollllld....
  • In Medias Res: As soon as Phineas asks where Perry is, he is already trapped at Doof's place. As a result, this is the first episode where Major Monogram doesn't appear.
  • Look Behind You: At one point, Candace distracts Stacy by pointing and saying, "Hey, isn't that the guy from that movie?"
  • Knew It All Along: Turns out Stacy knew Jeremy was stuck to Candace the whole time.
Stacy: By the way, the best part was when you used him as a table. Busted!
  • Merging Machine: The Combine-inator functions as one.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Candace has this throughout the episode, especially during "Just the Two of Us", since she is afraid of getting caught with Jeremy.
  • Opening Shout-Out: Phineas and the gang build the robot dog from the theme song.
Baljeet: Like when we made that title sequence.
Buford: Eh, I'd rather give a monkey a shower.
    [...]
Buford: See? None of this would've happened if we'd have given a monkey a shower! I'm just sayin'!
  • Precocious Crush: This is Isabella's second attempt in trying to ask out Phineas, this time to see a movie, and she even psyches herself up before entering the backyard. However, for such a simple request, the universe seems to have it out for her as for this episode, she has Candace-levels of Contrived Coincidence keeping her from asking him to the movies. Even when the Jeremy-Candace situation is resolved, a stray blast from the Combine-inator merges Phineas and Ferb into one person, completely nullifying any chance of spending some alone time with him.
  • Prehensile Hair: Perry is able to use the three long hairs on the top of his head to create a makeshift key to open the trap.
  • Running Gag: Isabella wants to go see a movie with Phineas, but her plans are repeatedly interrupted by something else.
  • Slow "NO!": When Rover drops the molecular separator, Phineas, Buford and Isabella shout, "Nooooo!" in slow motion and run, except for Baljeet who just stands there and wonders how they're doing that.
