Tropes

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Phineas lists the eras of prehistory as Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Plasticine. The former two are real eras of prehistory, while the latter is a joke outlier referring to the modeling clay.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Phineas and Ferb watch a documentary on cavemen, and afterwards, an ad for a sandwich restaurant. Phineas says he knows what they're going to do today, then the scene flips to them eating sandwiches. Then Phineas says, "You know what else we should do today? Go search for a caveman at the Danville Glacier!"
  • Big Eater: Conk. Not surprising, since he's been frozen for 28,000 years.
  • Contemporary Caveman: The episode has Phineas and Ferb finding a frozen caveman and bringing him into the modern world.
  • Coordinated Clothes: Since Jeremy's going to the costume party as a caveman, Candace decides to dress as a cavewoman to make people think they're a couple.
  • Embarrassing Animal Suit: Somehow, Monogram and Carl have tricked Agent P into dressing as a magpie to get into his lair. And later, Carl suggests doing his mission dressed as a rabbit.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Conk attempts to eat a carburetor.
  • Faceship: The front end of the Sandwich Suit Remove-inator is based on Doofenshmirtz's face.
  • Freudian Slip: When Candace is talking about Jeremy eating sandwiches, her brothers pass by, causing her to say that "Jeremy eats roast beef on 'Phinedays' and 'Saturferbs'."
Candace: PHINEAS AND FERB, YOU'RE LUSTING FOR A BUSTING!!
  • Human Popsicle: Conk, before being thawed.
  • Improvised Lockpick: Perry uses one of Doofenshmirtz's clothing hangers to unlock his trap.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Doofenshmirtz attempts to rid the Tri-State Area of all sandwich suits. At the end of the episode, he gets stuck inside one himself, and ends up being chased all over town by Conk who mistakes him for an actual sandwich.
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: Happens when Doofenshmirtz tries to start the Sandwich Suit Remove-inator only to find it's out of gas.
  • Literal Metaphor: When Phineas told Candace about Conk, he said that he was "a real Neanderthal". Candace assumed he was speaking metaphorically and that their friend was just uncivilized. It wasn't until after they got to the party that Candace realized that Conk was literally a Neanderthal.
  • Mistaken Identity: Candace mistakes Conk for Jeremy and doesn't realize what's going on until the real Jeremy gives her a phone call.
  • Nap-Inducing Speak: When Doofenshmirtz goes to refuel his inator, he comments on how the price ends in all zeros, making it easier to balance his checkbook, but then he notices that Perry's not listening.
Doofenshmirtz: Perry the Platypus, are you asleep?! Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to soliloquize.
  • Take That!:
Phineas: This'll be fantastic. Think of all the practical applications a caveman can have in the modern world!
    (Beat)
Phineas: Actually, you know, besides politics, I can't think of anything.
  • Threat Backfire: Candace tells Phineas not to try anything funny or he will get "it". Phineas asks "Get what?" and Candace repeats, "IT!"
Phineas: Well, if "it" is another sandwich, I'll take it now, please.
  • Turning Into Your Parent: After Doofenshmirtz explains his plan and lets out a long Evil Laugh, he realizes what he's doing and laments that he's "become my mother."
