This episode contains examples of:

  • Badass Boast:
Sarah: You know, I should have just left you here to bloody rot.
Helena: In convent, I live for four months in a broom closet. I do not rot.
  • Blatant Lies:
    • Coady justifies locking up Helena with the fact she's been locked up most of her life, saying that she's used to it so it gives her comfort.
    • Mark claims he burned off his mark and married Gracie just to get in the Proletheans' good books. He's honestly in love with her.
  • Call-Back:
    • A mysterious party takes pictures of Cosima and Shay, very much like Paul did to Sarah and Kira in 1.05
    • Abel Johanssen died because his DNA lacked the synthetic sequences that make clones stable, though genetically different than the originals. This idea was first brought up by Leekie in season 2 when talking to Cosima and Delphine.
  • Can't Hold Her Liquor: Gracie gets drunk on gin-and-juice very quickly, since it's the first time she's ever had alcohol.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Helena has been hoarding the pats of butter that come with her meals. She later uses the butter to grease down her body and squeeze through an opening she made in her cell door.

  • First Kiss: Shay and Cosima share one.
  • Great Escape: Most of Helena and Sarah's scenes focus on them trying to escape the Castor brothers.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Helena's offer to make Sarah her "sandwich" when they escape. Allegedly, a Siberian prison-break custom is to bring along a weaker companion, a.k.a "the sandwich" - who gets eaten by the stronger escapee.
  • The Lost Lenore: John Sadler, Siobhan's husband, died when a drunken fight got him gardening shears in his throat.
  • Missing Mom: Sarah discusses why she left Kira just prior to the start of the series.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Sarah tries to shame Paul for helping Castor by telling him that they assault women and abduct people. Then Paul asks her how many people Helena's killed.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Sarah waking up in the Castor base.
    • When Gracie collapses during the dance party, Felix assumes it's because she had too much to drink. Then S realizes that she's in real pain and has him call 911.
    • Sarah has a meltdown when Helena abandons her.
  • Pet the Dog: Paul shows real concern for Sarah when he sees that she's been imprisoned.
  • The Reveal: The Castor clones are passing something onto the women they sleep with that makes their eyes turn red. Gracie also suffers from intense pain.
  • Self-Harm: Helena scratches herself with a nail. Pupok refers to it as her "guilty pleasure".
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Gracie decides to let go of her inhibitions, so she dresses in Sarah's old clothes, which are all black and very revealing.
  • Shout-Out: Felix refers to Gracie as Rosemary's Baby.
  • Tempting Fate: Sarah says to Paul while calling him out that maybe "he's next". On next episode...
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Sarah gives one to Paul after learning that he's been helping and protecting Project Castor.
