Go To

A series of shorts based on the first season of the Disney Channel series 101 Dalmatian Street.

These shorts were made by Gigglebug Entertainment and premiered on Disney Channel YouTube pages from December 14, 2018 to May 24, 2019.

The first Season has the following shorts:

  • Merry Pups
    • Can Dylan protect the Christmas presents from the prying paws of Dolly, Dee Dee and Dizzy?
  • Muddy Pups
    • Dylan is trying to keep the floor clean, but Diesel wants to play in the dirt.
  • Prank Pups
    • Dylan tries to play a prank on Hugo, Clarissa Corgi's human, but things get a bit out of paw.
  • Ransom Pups
    • Clarissa Corgi has got her paws on Dolly's rubber chicken, and now Dolly wants it back.
  • Target Pups
    • Dylan & Dawkins attempt to make modifications to the Kibble Pump.
  • Yoga Pups
    • Deepak is meditating on Dolly's skateboard, and Dolly is trying to get it back.
  • Jurassic Pups
    • Fergus and Dylan take on a not so little challenge... to BUILD a pre-historic dinosaur.
  • Space Pups
    • Dylan is trying to dock with the space station, but Dorothy is on board and chaos ensues.
  • Disco Pups
    • Dolly, Roxy and Snowball are trying to make a music video but Roxy can't quite get the hang of dancing. Will they find the perfect move to record?
  • Diva Pups
    • Destiny, Dallas and Deja Vu are the most stylish dogs in town and really know how to work the camera, but will their competitive sides get the better of these pawsome pups?

All but one of these shorts were later compiled in to the Season One episode "Puppy Dreams," in which the puppies' dreams were used as the framing device for each short.

Whether more shorts will be made for a second season is unknown.

Tropes present in these shorts:

  • Accidental Dance Craze: Dolly and Roxy turn Snowball's Rage Breaking Point in to this in "Disco Pups."
  • Black-Hole Belly: In "Jurassic Pups," Fergus is able to swallow a whole dinosaur bone which is larger than his entire body.
  • Blanket Fort: In; "Merry Pups", Dylan builds a watch tower out of other Christmas presents.
  • Bound and Gagged: Dylan winds up tied up in the hose for the Kibble Pump in "Target Pups."
  • Christmas Light Chaos: In "Merry Pups," Dolly, Dylan, Dizzy and Dee Dee all wind up up getting tangled up in the Christmas tree decorations, and even suggests they all spent the night sleeping while tangled up in the tree.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: This happens to Hugo in "Prank Pups" after Dolly hits him with his skateboard. Not unsurprisingly, he has pictures of Clarissa on his underwear.
  • Conveniently Timed Distraction: In "Merry Pups," Dizzy and Dee Dee get caught in Dylan's wire trap, which leads to Dylan leaving his watch tower unattended along with Dorothy's present, which Dolly takes advantage of.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Destiny and Dallas spend the story of "Diva Pups" trying to win the most likes for themselves in their stream. Ultimately, it is Deja Vu, who was ignoring their battle, who gets the most likes.
  • Denser and Wackier: The shorts tend to be more cartoon-y than the actual show, with more use of Toon Physics, Hammerspace and more abstract scenery. This may be potentially justified, as "Puppy Dreams" shows these shorts to be dreams which the puppies are having.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Subverted in the "Merry Pups" short: Dorothy's Christmas present miraculously survives a ladder falling on it By Wall That Is Holey-style. Then it's struck by lightning out of nowhere. Fortunately, she's happy just play with the ribbon.
  • Failure Montage: "Disco Pups" shows this, with Dolly, Roxy and Snowball trying to make a dance video.
  • Fast Tunnelling: In "Muddy Pups," Diesel is able to dig an entire field full of holes in seconds.
  • Finger in the Mail: In "Ransom Pups," when Clarissa gets her paws on Dolly's rubber chicken, she sends Dolly a package with one of its legs in the box.
  • Foreshadowing: In "Merry Pups," when Dorothy is shown looking at her present at the start of the short, she is tugging on the ribbon. This foreshadows that it was actually the ribbon she wanted, rather than the present itself.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: In "Prank Pups," Clarissa Corgi's owner Hugo is revealed to wear briefs with pictures of Clarissa on them.
  • Hammerspace:
    • "Yoga Pups" has Dolly pulling a massive drum set out of somewhere, including a gong, in order to get Deepak to get off her skateboard. In-series, this is justified by being a dream of Deepak's.
    • "Ransom Pups" involves Dolly somehow getting hold of a pair of gardening shears and eventually a bulldozer in the middle of urban London.
    • If "Puppy Dreams" is anything to go by, however, these can be justified in the fact these shorts are dreams which the Dalmatians are having.
  • Hiccup Hijinks: Deja Vu does this with bubble liquid, causing her to hiccup bubbles.
  • Imagine Spot: The events of "Space Pups" take place in Dylan's imagination, as he plays with Dorothy in the park.
  • Kids Prefer Boxes: In "Merry Pups," despite Dorothy's present being reduced to ashes, it turns out that Dorothy just wanted the ribbon on it, which survives.
  • Laser Hallway: In "Merry Pups," Dylan sets one up made of a string with bells attached to it, to detect if anyone is getting close to the presents.
  • Load-Bearing Hero: Fergus winds up needing to work as one of the leg limbs for a dinosaur skeleton which Dylan built after he ate said bone.
  • No-Dialogue Episode: Aside from vocal effects made by the characters, a large majority of the shorts are free of dialogue. Subverted, however, in the following examples...
    • Whenever Dolly says "Bow-Whacka-Wow" in both "Prank Pups" and "Yoga Pups."
    • Dawkins when he stutters "But..." and says "Oh, yeah!?" in "Target Pups."
    • Snowball constantly saying "Nyet" ("No" in Russian) in "Disco Pups."
  • Not So Above It All: In "Prank Pups," despite being one of the most responsible of the pups, Dylan plays a prank on Clarissa's human, Hugo, by gluing his phone to the ground.
  • Ocular Gushers: One that doesn't involve sadness. The short "Prank Pups" has Dylan laughing so hard at the result of his prank that he cries. Unfortunately he's wearing his space helmet as he's doing this, and the resulting flood of tears eventually causes him to have to hold his breath to keep from drowning while Dolly tries to get the helmet off.
  • Serial Escalation: When Clarissa has Dolly's rubber chicken hostage in "Ransom Pups," Dolly tries to do likewise to a topiary of Clarissa. This escalates from Clarissa barbecuing the chicken, to Dolly cutting parts off the topiary, to Clarissa dipping the chicken in honey so it gets attacked by bees, to Dolly doing more cutting, to Clarissa putting the chicken on a rack, to Dolly driving a bulldozer towards the topiary.
  • Spotlight Hog: In-Universe example in "Diva Pups," which has Destiny and Dallas fighting for the attention in their video.
  • Water Hose Rodeo: Happens with the Kibble Pump in "Target Pups."
