Recap / OKKO Lets Be Heroes S 2 E 34 OKAU

Go To

An evil warlock takes our heroes to a strange alternate universe.

Tropes:

  • Alternate Reality Episode: Most of the episode takes place in a universe where K.O., Enid, and Radicles are Boxmore robots while Shannon, Darrel, and Raymond are organic Bodega employees. Despite the warlock acting as if they had all spent the time In Another Man's Shoes, it seems more like he alone went to an Alternate Universe where they were always that way.
  • As You Know: The characters keep mentioning for no reason that they've always been robot or human.
  • Boss Subtitles: All six role-swapped characters in the alternate universe get them, as do the AU-Boxman and Gar:
K-0: Has Always Been a Robot
    EN1D: Teenage Robot
R.A.D.I.C.L.E.S.: We Have No Idea What This Acronym Stands For
    Darrell: Crabby Clerk
    Shannon: Bratty Cashier
    Raymond: Sporty Stockboy
    Lord Gar-man
    Mr. Box-Gar
  • Butt-Monkey: Boxman continues to treat his children like this, regardless of who his 'children' are. Meanwhile as Raymond and Shannon are even lazier employees than Enid was, they try to leave Darrel to do all their work.
  • Call-Back: The warlock visits the talk show from "Let's Watch The Pilot", implying that the episode was set in an alternate universe from the main show.
  • Close-Enough Timeline: The last universe the warlock goes to has the employees the same, but their bosses have swapped physical characteristics (Boxman is huge and buff, Mr. Gar is short and fat). He considers this close enough.
  • Creative Closing Credits : The music in the credits is played backwards and the paper cutouts are upside down to reflect the weirdness in this episode
  • Mirror Universe: The warlock travels to a slightly altered universe where the main three employees at Box More and Gar's Bodega have opposite employers and species.
  • Robot Names: The robot version of K.O., Enid, and Radicles are K0 (pronounced "Kay Zero"), EN1D, and R.A.D.I.C.L.E.S.—the last of which is such an absurd backronym even the subtitles have no idea what it stands for.
  • Self-Destruct Mechanism: Boxman blows up Rad, Enid, and K.O for everything from damaging their bodies, to just because he feels like it. K.O is clearly freaked out the first time he's killed and replaced.
  • Shout-Out: Robot Enid can change shape; when she does, she makes the transformation sound from Transformers.
    • The caption that appears when Robot Enid is first introduced reads "Teenage Robot"
    • One of the alternate realities is just the Bodegamen as The Little Mermaid (1989) characters, with a knockoff version of Under the Sea playing in the background.
  • Spinoff Babies: One of the alternate realities the warlock goes through has Rad, Enid, and K.O. as babies.
  • Unequal Rites: Enid looks down the on warlock's Alternate Universe magic, and even says it's supposed to be illegal.
  • Up the Real Rabbit Hole: Parodied; the warlock acts as if the alternate version of the main cast would recognize their differences from the main universe and wish to "turn back", even though to them it's how they've always been and want to continue being.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never find out if the Bodegamen of the main universe were able to finish the tasks Mr. Gar assigned them to do by the end of the day.
