Recap / Numberjacks S 2 E 18 Interesting Times

Go To

Seven is putting the baby Numberjacks to bed. She asks them what they want for their last bedtime story, and One says, "Day, night, day, night!". Seven asks if One really wants to hear that story again since she told her (and presumably Zero) that story the previous day. One affirms and Zero also nods and says, "Yes!".

Seven then starts the story: the Numberjacks had been woken up at night by the alarm. They'd gone to the control room, but Four and Three had been a bit sleepy from being woken up at night. Agent 37, who was also a bit sleepy and was still in his pyjamas, reported the problem: a man was washing his car in the middle of the night. They launched Six so that he could investigate but Four had trouble finding a six for him to land on in the dark and he was a little nervous due to being outside at night on his own.

Then, Agent 58 reported that some children were getting up in the middle of the night and getting dressed, while a man was taking his suit off to "sunbathe", even putting sunscreen and sunglasses on even though it was night. Seven pauses to ask Zero and One if they remember who was causing the trouble. One does: it was the Spooky Spoon.

The Numberjacks had then used Brain Gain to reset the problems and Six was sent back home. However, the next day, people were doing night things in the daytime: two little girls were in their pyjamas and one grown man was not only in his pyjamas, but he set an alarm clock, grabbed a teddy bear, lay down, and fell asleep on two chairs outside a cafe. Five then imagines that if the Spooky Spoon kept mixing up day and night activities, then people might play ball in the dark, teachers might go to bed in class, and the sun and moon might "get confused" about whether it's day or night.

Seven pauses the story to ask how they could have solved this problem. One suggests, "Brain gain!" and Zero nods. Seven says that the Numberjacks did indeed use brain gain and that Five was the one using it. Five was sent back, but then the Spooky Spoon made some kids put pyjamas on during a ballgame, a woman brush her teeth while eating a sandwich, and a boy put his pyjamas and swimming clothes on over his regular clothes.

The Numberjacks then took it upon themselves to take it in turns making people do things appropriate for their time: Three was put in charge of the morning, Four was put in charge of the mid-morning, noon, and afternoon, Five was put in charge of the evening, and Six was put in charge of the night and used Brain Gain to make the Spooky Spoon go to bed.

Back in the present, the baby Numberjacks fall asleep and Seven asks the viewer what they do during the day, at night, and all the time.
