Recap / Ninjago S3E34 "The Titanium Ninja"

Go To

Airdate: November 26, 2014

The time for the final battle with the Overlord has arrived. With his new body and Golden powers, he has become nearly unstoppable. The ninja must find a way to stop the Overlord before he takes over New Ninjago City, and the rest of the world.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Armor of Invincibility: The ninja use the armor of the Stone Army, previously used against the First Spijitzu Master. This allows them to survive exposure to Golden Power, though touching the Golden Armor itself would still be fatal.
  • Big "NO!": Pythor yells this when he realizes he's been shrunken down to the size of a worm.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Overlord is destroyed, but Zane is seemingly dead.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Zane absorbs the golden energy of the Overlord and sends it against him, dying from the massive amount of energy. Or not.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Garmadon and Wu hit a small pill perfectly toward the Overlord's mouth from an absurdly long distance. Too bad Pythor stops it.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Cyrus Borg creates a pill that will shrink whoever ingests it. The Ninja, Wu, and Garmadon come up with a plan to send the pill into the Overlord's mouth in order to shrink him, but it fails when Pythor jumps up and swallows it instead. The shrunken Pythor is last seen in the episode being chased by the falcon.
  • Kill It with Ice: How the Overlord is ultimately destroyed.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: The shockwave that results from the Overlord's defeat freezes both General Cryptor and Min-Droid, with both shattering into pieces soon after.
  • Really Dead Montage: When Zane sacrifices himself, he flashes back through his memories of his father and the ninja. Subverted at the end when it's hinted he's still alive.
  • Title Drop: Cyrus refers to Zane as the Titanium Ninja as he unveils a statue of Zane.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Cyrus is freed from the Overlord's control, as he is no longer needed. The Nindroids don't actually harm him, however, and let him escape (which predictably comes back to bite them).
