Hoping to restore Nya, the ninja petition the mayor to let Ashpheera out of prison. When he refuses, the ninja decide to stage a jailbreak.
- The Bus Came Back: Skylor returns to take Zane's place keeping Nya frozen.
- The Guards Must Be Crazy: The front door staff of Borg Tower are too busy playing on their phones, rather than keeping an eye out. Jay even notes how clueless they are.
- Harmless Freezing: Zane freezes Kai and Lloyd in order to get them past Kryptarium Prison's thermal sensors. They're unharmed beyond being extremely cold.
- Idiot Ball: The ninja decide to break into Borg Tower rather than even consider phoning up Cyrus and just asking him for his help when they have his former assistant right there. The very next episode even shows this was an entirely legitimate avenue which they apparently never considered.
- Implausible Deniability: Mayor Trustable tells his aide to tell the ninja he's not in, which would probably be a bit more convincing if the ninja weren't already standing there looking at him.
- Jerkass Has a Point: The mayor refuses to let Aspheera out and reads the ninja the riot act over several previous instances where their villains have trashed a good chunk of the city, and while his comment about "little people" makes it clear his motivation isn't entirely about the citizens, he's also not wrong that letting Aspheera out would be a bad move.
- Lack of Empathy: When the Ninja explain to Trustable the situation with Nya, the Mayor acts nonchalantly apathetic about it, and that was before the Ninja make the request to have Aspheera released from prison so they can use her help to save Nya.
- Office Golf: Mayor Trustable is in the middle of a game when the ninja show up to ask for his help.
- Sarcasm-Blind: Lampshaded.Cole: Look, we know Aspheera’s dangerous, but we’ll be watching her the entire time. We promise to protect Ninjago.
Mayor Trustable: Eh, like you protected it from that video game thing, and the giant sea serpent, and the creepy black clouds!
Jay: Yes, exactly!
Kai: Wow, you are really good at picking up on sarcasm.
