As TK remains in his coma, Grace goes into labor.

Tropes:

  • Big Damn Kiss: TK and Carlos have two upon rekindling their relationship: once after TK wakes up, and again after Carlos shows him that he moved him into their new loft.
  • The Cameo: Gwyn herself makes an appearance at the pull-in ceremony with a stroller carrying baby Jonah.
  • Dance Party Ending: The entire 126 and the Strand family end the reopening ceremony with a mass jazz dance.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Grace names her new daughter after her deceased godfather, Charlie. Tommy is touched at this.
  • Imperiled in Pregnancy: As she and Billy search for shelter on the highway, Grace advances further in her labor. Not too long after they find and settle in an abandoned luxury bus, she then has to lie back and let the birth happen even as she calls out to Judd. Luckily, he, Tommy and Owen arrive just in time to help her deliver her baby.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Carlos tells Andrea that he and TK broke up, and he hadn’t told her or Gabriel for fear of disappointing them so soon after they gave the two of them their blessings and support.
    • Paralleling this, TK reveals to the dream version of Gwyn the real reason he and Carlos broke up: They went house-hunting after the arson attack, and found a loft downtown that was perfect for them. The problem arose with paying to buy it, as TK couldn’t financially contribute for the down payment; when Carlos later surprised him by purchasing the loft himself and putting their names on the deed without his knowing, TK was so overwhelmed and ashamed at the gesture that he, in his own words, “panicked” and left.
    • After he cleans himself up, Owen learns about TK’s worsening condition and what happened to him from Tommy.
  • Karmic Jackpot: As thanks for saving Lindsay, her parents donate enough money to Marjan’s GoFundMe page to save the 126 firehouse.
  • Please Wake Up: Dream!Gwyn conveys this to TK in a firmer manner than how the trope is often done.
TK: I hurt [Carlos] so bad, Mom. What if he doesn’t wanna take me back?
Dream!Gwyn: There’s only one way to find out— you need to wake up!
  • Take My Hand!: After the nurses stabilize him and put a nasal cannula in, a barely-conscious TK reaches an arm out to Carlos while hoarsely telling him to breathe, indicating his answer to Carlos’ doubts: he wants them to reunite. Through tears, Carlos reaches back, and they share a hug in his hospital bed.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Mostly from Grace’s end, as she is very reluctant to let Billy help her walk through the snowstorm or see her vulnerable. Eventually, she’s in too much pain to put up more of a fight.
  • Welcome Back, Traitor: Possibly the real implication of a few months’ Time Skip; by the 126’s reopening, Billy is back on friendlier terms with Owen, Judd and Grace. The latter two even gently poke fun at his awkward attempt at bonding with Charlie and allow him to hold her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Though we don’t hear all of what Carlos says to TK, we can infer that TK initiated the breakup when he left and presumably cut off contact with him, which left Carlos confused and heartbroken.
    • In his coma dream, Gwyn gives a sterner one to TK as the two hear Carlos’ above speech, but is a little more understanding after TK admits the reason for their breakup.
