Clay has seemingly turned evil again and has wiped out the Nexo Knights. Fortunately, this news broadcast was falsified in order to deceive Jestro and the Cloud of Monstrox. However, in order to get Clay to infiltrate them, he goes through training under the teachings of super-spy Jack Shields.
Clay, posing as his villainous self, infiltrates Jestro and the Cloud of Monstrox's forces. He finds out their plans to collect the Forbidden Powers. As Clay shakes Ruina Stoneheart's hand, a surge of energy passes through them.
Unfortunately when Robin's life is put on the line, Clay's cover is blown, but the other Nexo Knights swiftly launch an ambush on the Stone Monster Army, forcing them to retreat. Back at the Fortrex, Clay reveals Jestro and the Cloud of Monstrox's plan to the other knights, but Macy and Merlok 2.0 notice that Clay is no longer himself and Merlok 2.0 believes that Ruina has cursed him with dark magic.

- Animal Espionage: The rabbit spy, Todd.
- Coincidental Broadcast: The staged battle between Clay and the knights just so happens to air as soon as Monstrox gets Arnoldi's stone holovision screen working.
- If You're So Evil, Eat This Kitten!: To know for sure if Clay has really gone bad or not, Monstrox orders him to execute Robin, which Clay of course refuses to do, blowing his cover to let Robin escape.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Robin spies on the monsters' camp with a fake mustache as his only disguise. He gets caught but the monsters still fail to recognise him.
- Self-Deprecation: Judging from how Jestro imagines the (staged) fight between Clay and the rest of the heroes, the writers may've been aware of claims that some characters in the main cast lack depth:Jestro (while mimicking the characters' voices): Oh, I bet Macy was all like "Oh no, Clay, don't be evil!" And then Aaron was all like "Dude, what's up?" And Lance just played with his hair. And Axl ate some pie. Oh, and then Merlok was all like "Oh, dear, Clay! Whatever are you doing?" And you were all like "Eat sword, old man"
