Go To

Tropes in this entry include:

  • Eccentric Millionaire: Josiah's hobbies included crossdressing (and pranks thereof), staging Shakespeare plays, and conversing with strangers over HAM radio. He utilized all of the above to hide his will, hoping that his friends would have fun finding it after he was gone; unfortunately, his clues were so cryptic that they were never recognized as what they were.
  • Fetch Quest: Nancy wants a trivet loaned to Mrs. Sheldon, who wants a card deck loaned to Miss Jakowski, who wants tickets from Mrs. O'Shea, who wants toys for her children, but then she tells you the tickets need to be picked up from Mr. Phelps, who wants a fish. In the end, Nancy ends up driving through half the town just to get that one trivet.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Mr. Topham faked a will to get Josiah's money, but he's not a dangerous person and Nancy hypothesizes what he did early in the narrative. The real villain is Marion (posing as Jane Willoughby), a thief who gaslighted Emily and set fire to her kitchen. Although both are unmasked eventually, the final confrontation is against the latter.
  • Wham Shot: The key clue is Nancy finding a photo of Gloria and Jane next to Josiah’s real will, but “Jane” looks nothing like the woman Nancy’s been interacting with all game.
