Sloane's past comes back to haunt her when the man who abducted her and her squad in Afghanistan and tortured them for nine months suddenly resurfaces, having been presumed dead. Vance and Gibbs have a race against time to verify Sloane's sanity before she does something she can't take back. Meanwhile, the rest of the team investigates a bomb threat aboard a Navy ship.
- Call-Back: Gibbs tells Sloane about killing Pedro Hernandez after he killed Shannon and Kelly.
- Cliffhanger: In frequent season finale fashion, Vance is abducted by the terrorist responsible for Sloane's torture and is already well over the ocean.
- How We Got Here: It starts with Sloane getting arrested, and then shows what led to it.
- Ironic Echo: The cruel-natured use of the word "infidel", both in Jack's memory, and later repeated in the same unmistakably hateful tone by the terrorist once he shows his true colors to Vance.
