The team investigates a deadly car explosion in D.C. that connects to NCIS Special Agent Nick Torres.
- Accidental Innuendo: In-Universe. Bishop gets back from her vacation in Scotland and tells McGee how she met Clayton Reeves, and says that "His stamina is incredible, couldn't keep up" McGee grins at this, and she quickly adds "Hiking, Tim, hiking."
- The Bus Came Back: Bud Roberts (Patrick Labyorteaux), now a Navy captain, eleven years after the series finale of JAG.
- Casual Danger Dialogue: Torres is remarkably deadpan about sitting on a chair that's rigged to explode if he stands up.
- High Turnover Rate: At this point Gibbs has rejected eight potential replacements for Tony from Quinn, and she’s not amused. One such recruit kept sleeping on the job.
- The Thing That Would Not Leave: While recovering from the ambush, Fornell has taken up residence in Gibbs's house, going so far as to wear his clothes. Gibbs would like for him to move out, but Fornell is too oblivious to care.
- The Unreveal: Bud is cut off before he reveals if either Mac or Harm resigned so they can be together.
