Directed by James Whitmore Jr.Written by Scott Williams & Reed Steiner
As the team searches for an abducted teenager, Abby and Ziva work closely with a friend of the girl who witnessed the kidnapping; Gibbs turns to a former contact for help; Tony is jealous when Ziva makes plans with another man.
Tropes in this episode:
- Actor Allusion:
- Tony and McGee sing the opening theme for Laverne & Shirley. Mark Harmon, who plays Gibbs, appeared in Laverne and Shirley, as did Scott Bakula, who plays Dwayne Pride in NCIS spinoff NCIS: New Orleans.
- Miranda admits she's a smuggler and a black marketeer, but no amount of money would persuade her to sell a girl into white slavery. Alex Kingston previously played Queen Boudica, the Celtic queen who went on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge after her two underage daughters were raped by Roman soldiers.
- Bad "Bad Acting": Tony's attempt to impersonate Ducky over the phone, which gets him a Dope Slap from the latter.Ducky: I do not say "cheerio"!
- Cool Old Guy: Ziva's longtime friend Shmiel Pinkus - "Middle East historian, philosopher and poet."
- Covert Pervert: Miranda's contact at the State Department, who calls himself a "collector" of certain esoteric (read: kinky) historical artifacts.
- Forced to Watch: After the kidnappers are driven off, Lydia screams and cries as her father's life ebbs away, unable to do anything to save him.
- Frying Pan of Doom: Abby saves Ziva from an intruder by whacking him across the head with a frying pan. She even lampshaded it.Abby: A frying pan... It's a little cliche.
Ziva: Works for me! - Missing Child: A 16-year-old girl named Rosie is kidnapped by Human Traffickers.
- Missing Mom: Lydia's mother is away in the Navy.
- Never My Fault: One of the Red Herring suspects, John Stevens, complains that being a registered sex offender makes it really hard for him to meet women.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Rosie is kidnapped, Gibbs assembles every available agent in D.C. in the squad room, not just his own team, saying that Director Vance has ordered them all to drop everything to assist in the search.
- Papa Wolf: Dave Wade lays a severe beatdown on the trio of thugs trying to kidnap Lydia and Rosie, forcing them to shoot him in the abdomen. One of the thugs, later captured, swears that no one was supposed to get hurt.
- Recruiting the Criminal: Downplayed. Gibbs knows that Miranda has never been involved with white slavers, but he hopes that her underworld contacts can help lead him to the right culprit. They do.
- Sex Slave: Rosie's fate until Gibbs and his team save her.
- Socially Unacceptable Collection: Miranda helped her contact at the State Department add to his collection of esoteric items; he insists that his interest in them is purely historical, but he also knows his wife would not see it that way if she ever found them.
- Vehicular Kidnapping: How Rosie's ordeal begins.
