Films covered: (in order of appearance)
The first of three movie review specials made during the show's run on the Sci Fi Network.
The Segments:
Prologue- Mike and Crow are waken up by Servo's screams, but it turns out be him introducing the show's first annual Summer Blockbuster Review. Crow joins along in Servo's number.
Segment 1
- Crow and Servo present The Fifth Element, which the two are baffled by. After some behind the scenes footage, they recommend the film for people who want to inject LSD on their eyeballs.
Segment 2
- Mike makes his way to the theater, but is introduced as Jonathan Frakes. The three present The Lost World, which Crow summarize up the plot, alongside behind the scenes footage. The two Bots force Mike to watch the film as it made lots of money.
Segment 3
- Bobo joins Mike and the Bots in the theater, but makes a mess with his snacks and keeps talking, even when Servo begins introducing Men in Black. Servo kicks Bobo off though, and shows off behind the scenes footage after some clarification.
Segment 4
- As Servo introduces Contact, Brain Guy materializes in the theater. Pearl barges in and demands Mike and the Bots feature Batman and Robin, Servo disagrees, so she throws him off-screen. She then features Batman and Robin, much to Mike and Crow's annoyance. Crow rebels by showing Pearl a montage of unattractive men as George Clooney. Servo returns to conclude the special, as Pearl chased off Mike and Crow with Brain Guy following. Bobo tags along with Servo at the credits.
This special contains examples of:
- Actor/Role Confusion: When Batman and Robin is featured,
- Berserk Button: It is not a good idea to insult George Clooney in any way in front of Pearl. When Servo calls his acting wooden she throws him right out of the theater.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Crow gives one to Bobo, who is incessantly making noise and chattering.
- Brain Bleach: Mike, Pearl and Brain Guy are upset at footage of Joel Schumacher interacting with Alicia Silverstone. Crow plays it again though.
- Catholic Schoolgirls Rule: As Barbra Gordon knocks Wayne Manor's door.
- Call-Back: The MST Hour theme plays before the credits.
- Celebrity Crush/Loony Fan: Pearl, to George Clooney.
- Credits Gag: As the credits roll, Bobo lists several ape movies to Servo's suffering.
- Department of Redundancy Department: Servo describes The Fifth Element as "a futuristic tale of the future set many years from now."
- Get Out!: Servo shouts this to Bobo after being fed up with his constant interrupting during the Men in Black trailer.
- The Ghost: Lyle, Servo's floor manager.
- Hypocrisy Nod: When Bobo joins Mike and the bots in the theater, he keeps talking loudly and asking stupid questions. Crow mumbles angrily, "I hate people who talk in the theater."
- Long List: When the credits roll, Bobo suggests to Servo some movies to watch instead.Bobo: Mighty Joe Young, or King Kong. King Kong Lives maybe! Or Son of Kong, King Kong vs. Godzilla. Bedtime for Bonzo would be nice! Bonzo Goes to College, that's a classic movie! Blue Monkey, now Bonga the Gorilla! Gorilla at Large, delightful! Monkeys Go Home! The Bride Of the Gorilla! The Time of the Apes! Bomba and the Jungle Girl, Jungle Captive, Jungle Woman! Lost Jungle! Murders in the Rue Morgue, all three versions, yes sir! Barefoot Executive! Bo-Ru the Ape Boy! Monkey Shines, an experiment in fear!
- Quality by Popular Vote: In Universe, The Bots use this for Mike to watch The Lost World.
- Rhyming with Itself: At the opening number
- Starfish Language: Brain Guy's speech the Thinos IV is apparently high frequency screeching.
- Take That!: As Dr. Arroway listens to static.Crow: She's listening to the clearest version of MMMBop you can ever hope for.
