Film watched: The Batwoman. (Not to be confused with The Wild World of Batwoman.)
The Segments:
Prologue- Kinga and Pearl set off on their vacation through time to watch the Black Plague decimate Europe. Max is unable to cope with the pressure of having to do things without being told, and Mega-Synthia's mocking isn't helping. Emily gets her DNA testing results from 23 & Me and finds that she's 2% robot.
Segment 1/Invention Exchange
- The 'Bots throw Emily a "ro-bot mitzvah" to celebrate her coming of artificial age. They pause to present the "Vin Diagram", a Venn Diagram which takes any two Vin Diesel movies and identifies the common element between them. Mega-Synthia presents her invention, the Duck Tape Dispenser, which is pretty self-explanatory.
Segment 2
- Emily is held hostage as the 'Bots discuss their plans to splice her DNA with other animals (when they're not arguing over who's in charge). Their choices of animals are as questionable as their ability to keep Emily tied up.
Segment 3
- The crew puts on a Billionaire Vigilante Gala where they talk about the financial upkeep for their superhero lairs, debate their potential violations of civil liberties, and laugh haughtily a lot.
Post-Intermission
- The Gala continues and the crew debate over what to do when a supervillain takes over a nuclear plant.
Segment 4
- The crew offers their pitch to become a Batwoman franchise owner and shows off the starter kit. Mega-Synthia buys the kit and declares herself to be "Mega-Batwoman".
Segment 5
- Seeing the film end with Batwoman panicking over a mouse leaves a sour taste in the crew's mouths. Kinga and Pearl return from their vacation to find everything in flames and Max begging Kinga to tell him to push the button.
The Mystery Science Theater 3000 presentation of The Batwoman has examples of:
- Ambiguously Jewish: Apparently, robots believe in a pun-filled form of Judaism. And Mega-Synthia is fluent in Yiddish for some reason.
- Artificial Animal People: The second host segment has Crow and Servo playing Mad Scientist and plotting to combine Emily with an animal to Take Over the World. However, she keeps distracting them by poking holes in their animal choices* until they suggest a panda, at which point she stops her leisurely escape and says if they make it a red panda, they have a deal.
- Call-Back:
- When the crew sees that Dr. Williams' yacht is named Reptilicus, they immediately sing a bilingual English/Spanish rendition of "Every Country Has a Monster".
- "Batwomen, Draculas, Bigfoots, whatever."
- "Time to get ready for some Hot Merging Action."
- Stock riffs:
- "Bang!"
- When a disembodied voice suddenly announces "Granada Gym" (translating a Spanish sign), Emily adds "And watch out for snakes."
- "HI-KEEBAT!"
- Cardboard Prison: The "rope" tied around Emily's wrists in Segment 2 doesn't do any job at keeping her restrained. It's not even tied to anything above her, so she just lowers her arms when the 'Bots aren't looking.
- Fight Scene Failure: In-Universe, The introduction to “The Amazing Batwoman” elicits this reaction.Emily: I think “Amazing” might’ve been a mistranslation.
- The Igor: The bad guy’s assistant is almost literally this, as his name is Igor.
- Heh Heh, You Said "X": Crow: Hehehehe, he said "pineal"!
- Mondegreen: The crew mishears the fish monster's name, Pisces, as "Feces" and are grossed out.
- Overly Long Gag: During a scene of Batwoman driving, Servo hums the 1960s Batman theme until he passes out from lack of air.
- Plot Hole: No mention is made of Servo's voice being back to normal after Joel switched it to the factory setting in Demon Squad.
- Running Gag:
- Given the subject matter, Batman riffs are a foregone conclusion.
- Batwoman's powers revolving around scuba-diving, whether she's actually scuba-diving or not.
- Dr. Williams and his henchman Igor having a relationship with each other.
- The obsession with pineal glands.
- Shout-Out:
- Batman. Constantly.
- Seeing the girls on the beach dancing badly. "Is the one on the left Elaine?"
- "Mario and Diaz died on the way back to their home planet."
- "Sorry, Mario, but Your Princess Is in Another Castle!"
- "Boom! Head A'splode!"
- "BANJO!"
- "Porkchop Sandwiches!"
- "Flavin!"
- "Thanks for the ride, lady!"
- As a pair of scuba divers approach a large lump of coral: "We're here to bust you out, Wilford Brimley!"
- "Janet! Dr. Scott!"
- "How about "The Iron Giant" and "Saving Private Ryan?""
- "You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you."
- Visual Pun: Mega-Synthia's Duck Tape Dispenser, which is a dispenser that holds duct tape and looks like a duck.
